Total Base Race – Colorado Rockies/Arizona Diamondbacks

The Arizona Diamondbacks get a great matchup against Antonio Senzatela tonight. He has struggled through 12 starts this season, posting a 5-5 record with a 5.48 ERA and a 1.63 WHIP. He has also struggled with a 5.16 xFIP and a 5.64 SIERA through 64 innings. Senzatela has held his opponents to a 24.9% fly ball rate this season, but he has also given up a 20.4% HR/FB rate. He has also allowed his opponents to post a 38.7% hard hit rate in 2019, while recording only an 18.9% soft hit rate. Senzatela has been significantly worse against left-handed batters this season, allowing them to hit for a .353 average with a .595 slugging percentage and a .433 wOBA. He has allowed his opponents to hit for a .299/.470/.348 line in Arizona this season, as well. Ketel Marte has caught fire recently, posting a .372 average with a .837 slugging percentage and a 1.275 OPS over his last 10 games. He owns eight extra-base hits (six home runs) in those games, as well. He has posted 55% hard hit and 44% fly ball rates with a 96 MPH exit velocity over the last 15 days. Marte has been a better option against left-handed pitching, but he has still found plenty of success against righties. David Peralta hasn’t been playing quite as well recently, as he enters this game with a .244 average, .488 slugging percentage, and .814 OPS over his last 10 games. He has also recorded six extra-base hits (two home runs) in those games. Surprisingly, Peralta only owns 28% hard hit and 43% fly ball rates with an 89 MPH exit velocity over the last 15 days. While that’s a bit worrisome, he has posted 0.093 wOBA and 0.105 ISO differentials against right-handed pitching. Eduardo Escobar is in a similar position to Marte, as he has been at his best against left-handed pitching. With that being said, he owns a .350 average with a .625 slugging percentage and a 1.038 OPS over his last 10 games. He owns six extra-base hits (two home runs) over that span, as well. Escobar also owns 38% hard hit and 46% fly ball rates with a 92 MPH exit velocity over the last 15 days. Arizona should find plenty of success in a plus matchup, and this trio makes a strong play for the over tonight.
