Bales’ Bananas – Monkey Knife Fight MLB Prop Picks 8/11/19

Total Base Race – Los Angeles Angels/Boston Red Sox

With the new rule that Monkey Knife Fight implemented, it is no longer a great strategy to target one team projected to score a lot of runs. Rather, the entire game must be projected to be high-scoring. The Houston Astros are going to score runs tonight against the Baltimore Orioles and Asher Wojciechowski, but with Justin Verlander on the mound, it makes little sense to attack that game. The Boston Red Sox square off against the Los Angeles Angels, and Patrick Sandoval and Andrew Cashner are far from elite pitching options. This is a close game that is set at 11.5 total runs via Vegas, and finding a player from the Angels’ team to target is easy – Mike Trout. Trout has positive power splits against right-handed pitching, entering tonight’s game with a 0.120 ISO differential, and over the last 15 days, he has an average exit velocity on batted balls of 94 MPH. Combine that with his 60% fly ball rate and 46% hard hit rate, and his upside and consistency should be clear. Those advanced metrics have translated well to the real world, as he is hitting over .300 with 5 home runs in his last 10 games. Next, roster J.D. Martinez for his upside and consistency, as well. In his last 10 games, Martinez is hitting close to .500 with 4 home runs, and with a left-handed pitcher on the mound, he enters the contest with 0.247 ISO And 0.160 wOBA differentials. Martinez is hitting in the heart of the Red Sox’s lineup, and his slugging is higher at home. Finally, round out the lineup with Andrew Benintendi. Benintendi is approaching a .300 batting average over his last 10 games. He only has one home run, but he also has six doubles. In the last 15 days, he has an average exit velocity on batted balls of 95 MPH, a fly ball rate over 40%, and a hard hit rate over 45%.

Play $50 on Mike Trout, J.D. Martinez, and Andrew Benintendi OVER 9.5 total bases to win $100 (2x)
