I’m looking at fading two below average hitters against high-level pitchers on this slate. Willy Adames possesses surprisingly strong numbers over his last 10 games, as he’s averaging 7.1 fantasy points per game over that span. His peripherals are far from elite over the last 15 days, as well, as he owns 43% hard hit and ground ball rates to go along with an 88 MPH exit velocity. He gets a matchup against Caleb Smith, who has looked like an elite arm through seven starts. Adames enters this game with -0.071 wOBA and -0.065 ISO differentials against left-handed pitching, as well. He’s expected to hit eighth in the Tampa Bay Rays lineup, which will limit his at-bats, as well.

Curtis Granderson has struggled for the majority of the season, and that has been the case over his last 10 games. Over that span, he’s hitting .161 with a .290 slugging percentage and a .526 OPS. He’s also averaging only 4.6 fantasy points per game. Granderson’s metrics don’t look terrible over the last 15 days, as he owns 42% hard hit and 38% fly ball rates with a 92 MPH exit velocity, while also posting positive wOBA and ISO splits against right-handed pitching. With that being said, he gets a tough matchup against Charlie Morton, and Granderson would need more luck his way into more than a hit to find the over. Even though he’s leading off, there’s no reason to believe he’ll be in positions to score runs or find RBIs. Similarly to the Adames play, I’m siding heavily with the high-level pitcher over the below average batter.

Play $25 on Willy Adames UNDER 5.0 fantasy points and Curtis Granderson UNDER 5.0 fantasy points to win $62.50 (2.5x)
