Bobby’s MLB Batter Up (4/28/19)

MLB BATTER UP April 28th, 2019

In this article I’ll be keeping a similar approach to how I built my article last season with my stacks, players I’m targeting from those stacks (and why), low-owned home run calls per position, and highest upside plays per position.  As always, keep in touch with me through Discord and Twitter (@DF_Advantage) to suggest things you’d like me to add or take away from this article.

Top Stacks

One of the most important concepts to understand in DFS MLB.  Watch our daily YouTube live podcast for more information on this understanding/mindset.  Keep in mind it is ok to stack 4 guys or 3 from the same team.  This mathematically increases your chances of “cashing” in tournaments.  It isn’t as necessary to stack in cash games (double ups/heads up).  Below is our rankings starting from the best at number 1.

Not only will I be identifying two teams I believe you should target in GPPs, but I will also discuss in the analysis which specific players I want exposure from these two teams AND why.

Bobby’s #1 Leverage Stack of the Slate: Braves- In my opinion, Tyler Anderson is a pretty overrated pitcher that people for some reason think is way better than he is when playing away from Coors.  Atlanta’s home field is actually a very good hitter’s ballpark and one that I believe Anderson will struggle to navigate today which creates a perfect leverage situation for us on the main slate.  The Braves implied run total of 5 will get some attention to this team but not a lot of people will have the salary to pay up for these bats.  There is actually a ton of value towards the bottom of the lineup which I likely will be focusing on as I think this team will smash tonight and all lower order hitters will get minimum 4 ABs.  Dansby Swanson may be expensive and towards the bottom of the order but he projects as one of the best Braves hitters today and has been on fire (.382 xwOBA and a HH% of 50%).  Follow him up with Josh Donaldson at the top of the order where he is severly underpriced (94 EV and .389 xwOBA).  Fill in the rest with players in between (I’m fading Albies) and you will be happy today.

      • Best “One-Off” – Dansby Swanson
      • Best Bet for a Homerun – Josh Donaldson

My Favorite Stack on the Slate: Padres : The Padres are the stack that is going to win this slate.  No one ever wants to play them and they are in one of the best spots on the board playing in a ballpark that is a major upgrade against Hellickson who has been limiting hard contact but is showing major inefficienies in his advanced stats with an allowed (.349 xwOBA and only an 11.9% K rate).  This is not going to end well for Hellickson today against a severely underpriced Padres order that really allows you to play anyone you want elsewhere. Renfroe, Hedges, Myers, and Machado will lock you in for a ton of upside and homerun opportunities.  Hop on this stack. I’m all in.

      • Best “One-Off” – Hunter Renfroe
      • Best Bet for a Homerun – Austin Hedges
