WNBA DFS 6-7-19 – Zo’s Slate Breakdown

After a disappointing night full of blow-outs and upsets we get a nice small two game slate with much of the same. One game feature a high total with a double digit spread and the other features two of the bottom teams in the league. Buckle up and let’s dive in for today’s WNBA Slate Breakdown.

Wings vs Fever

Tonight, we get one of the bottom teams in the league in my Dallas Wings as they play the Fever. Dallas has been a nightmare in figuring out rotations and who’s going to play what minutes as no one has played over 30 minutes yet. Last game we finally got to see Azura Stevens take the court and play pretty well in her 26 minutes of action dropping 30 fantasy points. It not known yet if she will be starting or not but it is clear that she will be a focal point for the team and is underpriced on both sites for what her production will be. The only other two forwards on the team who seem to get any kind of run are Kayla Thornton and Glory Johnson, playing decent minutes and producing with them.

The guards for the Wings are about as hard to figure out as the Fevers trio. Arike Ogunbowale clearly has the trust of the coach and team as she is leading the team in usage at 34%, but like most of the guards for the Wings she has yet to play more than 20 minutes. Alicia Gray is too expensive for a player not playing over 30 minutes and I would rather pay for Erica Wheeler instead if I pay that high on FD or Toliver and Cloud on DK. Lastly Taylor Hill and Brooke McCarty-Williams make a nice value plays as they are seeing close to 20 minutes a game.

The Fever are almost as bad as the Liberty as far as minutes go in the guard position since their coach likes to ride the hot hand. Shenise Johnson is out tonight so which should give us a bit of satiability in minutes for the Mitchells and Erica Wheeler. Out of the three Erica Wheeler is the most consistent of the three playing close to 30 minutes and average a FPPM. The Mitchells can be a bit of a headache to decide who to play since either one can get hot and pulled for the other, but last game we finally had the Kelsey Mitchell explosion game with her scoring 30 fantasy points. With her inconsistency she is still a GPP play until we see some consistency out of her.

Game log watchers might look the other way for many of the Fever players and see that some played low minutes, but we must note that the last game was a blow out. I mention that to bring up Candace Dupree who played very limited minutes last time out but is in a good match up tonight. The Wings have not been the same defensive team they were last season with Liz down low putting both Dupree and Achowa in a good spot. Achowa and McCowan seem to be splitting time at the center position but Achowa price on Fanduel makes her interesting for a cheap Forward play.

Liberty vs Mystics

Tina Charles is the Liberty and the Liberty are Tina Charles. This just means that this team goes as Tina goes and tonight, I don’t see Tina going very far. This game has the higher total of the two tonight, but it also has a 10-point spread which screams blow out. If this game somehow stays close it will be because of Tina and her 40% usage rate. Amanda Zahui B is coming off a great game where she totaled 6 blocks! She is still priced cheap on Fanduel making her a decent play over there.

Brittany Boyd finally came to life last game dropping 32-fantasy points, but this is a bit inflated due to her 4 steals and block. Boyd is playable but is not a must and the same can be said for Nurse (due for a big game) and Asia Durr. Bria Hartley is the forgotten guard for the Libs but hasn’t seen over 20 minutes of game time yet.

**Keep a look out for the Liberty starting line up in case we get a surprise start from someone. If the Libs lose tonight that will be 4 in a row and I can’t help but think Katie Smith is in the hot seat**

This is you’re one warning: Do Not Play Emma Messerman, she is not with the team but back in Europe. With Emma gone there will be some minutes to distribute among the forwards for the Mystic. If we look back at the 1st game of the season that EDD missed, we can get a small idea of who might get them. LaToya Sanders saw 22 minutes in the season opener that EDD missed which is the most out of all the forwards that game. Her price on DraftKings is a bit over the top as I would rather play Stevens for a bit less, but on Fanduel she is priced reasonably. Tianna Hawkins and Myisha Hines-Allen are also good options and should see some extra run.

Kristi Tolliver is another player who had a great fantasy outing on the back of 4 steals and a block. She is a better play on Fanduel than DraftKings. The same can be said for Natasha Cloud if she plays tonight after leaving last game for a bit with a hand injury. Ariel Atkins is fairly priced on both sites I actually like her as a core key play today even if this game blows out, she should still see close to 25-30 minutes of run. Finally, EDD, there isn’t much that needs to be said about her besides she is the top play on the slate. If you look at her game logs, you’ll see minutes in the low twenties, but remember this is due to blow outs. If this game does stay close a stack of Tina and EDD could do wonders.
