Bobby’s NBA GPP Top Plays (3/5/19)

Again on vacation this week IRL so my article will be a bit shorter today plus it’s only six games. My core continues to be on fire so make sure to check that out tonight by purchasing the NBA Core Plays package at dfskarma.com/shop and asking any questions you have in Discord tonight to fill out the rest of your lineup. Make sure as usual to leverage some of my TOP GPP options with a core of chalkier plays. Let’s get into my top GPP plays for this slate.

AS NBA is a game where last-minute real-life changes are made before tipoff, always monitor breaking news up to last second!

The plays below in this daily article are low owned pivots and GPP plays. This means that these players will be RELATIVELY low owned, and ‘contrarian’ relative to the more highly owned, chalky plays of the night.  I emphasize upside/leverage over ownership, particularly in NBA DFS.

BALL IN!

Point Guard

Top GPP Plays:

  1. Darren Collison:  Since Oladipo went down there’s been players from the Pacers posting big games very often.  Collison is one of those guys who is capable of a huge game and tonight could be his turn.  5.5k for Collison against an extremely weak bulls backcourt, that ranks 16th in defensive efficiency against the guard position, sets up for a fantastic matchup.
  2. CJ McCollum:  6k for CJ? This seems like a price point that is wayyy too low for a player with CJ’s ceiling + caliber.  CJ has two 50 DK point games in his last 4 contests so obviously has the ceiling to match his price today.
  3. Chalk Play: Russell Westbrook

Shooting Guard

Top GPP Plays:

  1. Jimmy Butler: The Magic have been extremely competitive of late and I want exposure to a lot of pieces to this game.  It’s too early to know what the total is from this game but I’m expecting over 225.  Butler is the cheapest of the Sixers stars that are playing and sees almost equal usage at around 24-26%.  I’d be playing multiple stacks in this game.
  2. Chalk Play: JJ Reddick

Small Forward

Top GPP Plays:

  1. Aaron Gordon:  Gordon is the king of historically busting my lineups but I definitely would be playing him on the opposite side of this Sixers game that seems fantastic for a stack.  Gordon, outside of Vucevic who is priced appropriately, has the highest upside on this team and probably the best value for his upside.  In the past month, Gordon only scored below double digits once so the scoring should be there and he has been a beast on the boards lately.  Double-double upside is a real possibility for the SF/PF and I easily think he goes over value today.
  2. Chalk Play: Wesley Matthews

Power Forward

Top GPP Plays:

  1. Jerami Grant: Grant has been a beast this season and with Paul George out of the starting lineup he really does have a ceiling given the minutes/usage spike he sees.  Grant is projected to see under 15% ownership tonight playing close or more than 35 minutes for the Thunder without Paul George in the lineup.  Even with a usage rate below 20%, Grant’s been able to up his FP/min over the past month to .85.  He has plenty of upside tonight at his current Draftkings price.
  2. Chalk Play:  Not a ton of chalk at this position.  Tobias Harris or Draymond Green will be my expected most popular plays.  I prefer Harris.

Center

Top GPP Plays:

  1. Karl-Anthony Towns:  KAT doesn’t exactly grade well today against the Thunder but this is a guy who is leading the position in FP/min over the past month at 1.7 and just seems to be on an absolute tear.  He’s someone I want plenty of exposure tonight in GPPs where he will be under-owned for sure due to this grading.  Steven Adams might be a tough 1 v 1 matchup for him but I think he wins this one and continues to carry the Timberwolves and dominate in fantasy.
  2. Chalk Play: Myles Turner
