Brian’s CBB DFS Top Plays 12/5

Welcome to Brian’s CBB slate breakdown. In this article I will share a few of my top plays on the slate, and discuss who you should target in cash and gpp contests. If you would like to gain access to our CBB core plays, final thoughts, and premium discord, click here!

*** SLATE NOTE***

Both the NC State vs. UConn game and the Colorado vs. Washington State game have been cancelled and players from those games will not receive any fantasy points. Make sure you do not roster any of these players.

Guards

Jacob Davison (Eastern Washington) vs. Arizona

I will be looking to this game for a lot of my value, and possibly even higher tier players.  Jacob Davison is the top player on this E. Washington squad.  In EWU first game he got himself into foul trouble and was not able to really make the type of impact he is capable of making.  Last year he ranked 4th in the conference in scoring and 5th in usage rate.  He is an extremely gifted bucket getter, he is able to create his own shot and is absolutely deadly from mid range.  His 3pt. shot is still a work in progress, but we are only talking a one game sample from this year. He very well could have improved his shot from deep, and if he has, he will be hard to contain for Arizona.  This game has a ridiculous pace to it, and should bring us plenty of fantasy goodness!

Jared Butler (Baylor) vs. Gonzaga

Butler has been everything the Bears thought he would be and more to start this season off.  Butler is averaging a little over 16 points per game but is also rebounding at a decent clip as well.  He has been a terror for opponents on the defensive end, creating multiple turnovers per game.  Butler has had 2 or more steals in each of his first three games.  This game vs. Gonzaga has the highest total on the slate, and with plenty of value on this slate getting up to a top tier talent like Butler should be no problem at all.  Butler is my favorite play from Baylor.

Jalen Suggs (Gonzaga) vs. Baylor

Jalen Suggs is one of the many sensational freshman that are currently in the NCAA, and one that is looking to help lead this Gonzaga team to a national championship.  Standing in his way is a matchup vs. Baylor who arguably have one of the best perimeter defenses in the country.  Suggs will be challenged by this Baylor back court, but with a talent like Suggs, he is almost matchup proof.  He did injure his ankle last game, so it will be interesting if any information comes out that says he is limited in anyway, if not, he is a very nice GPP play, and may even be considered a decent cash play with 2 games already taken off this slate.  He is only $6800.

Others to consider:  K. Aiken Jr. (EWU); D. Mitchell (Bay); J. Cousinard (USC); M. Teague (BAY); G. Jones (LIP); Ellis Magnuson (EWU); J. Akinjo (ARZ); Q. Grimes (HOU); R. Ferguson (LIPS)

Forwards

Jordan Brown (Arizona) vs. Eastern Washington

Jordan Brown is a 6’11 transfer from Nevada who is manning the middle for this Arizona squad.  In Arizona’s first game Brown had 19 points/ 15 rebounds and 3 blocks.  Brown was absolutely dominant and showed why he was such a coveted 5 star prospect at one time.  He finds himself in a pace up spot here vs. Eastern Washington and should find racking up rebounds and blocks to be fairly easy.  Eastern Washington’s front court is extremely undersized at 6’9 and 6’7.  Brown will have the opportunity to dominate the paint and have his second monster performance in as many games.  Brown is great in all formats.

Drew Timme (Gonzaga) vs. Baylor

Players from this game will carry fairly high ownership due to the projected pace and total of this game.  As good as Baylor’s perimeter defense is, their interior defense is not nearly as good.  Drew Timme is the usage leader for this Zags team and is one of the most talented big men in the country.  Gonzaga will look to run their offense through him.  Baylor will try to slow him down, I am just not a believe that they will be able too.  Big time players show up in big time games.  Timme is averaging 23 points and 6 rebounds per game.  Look for Timme and Butler, both the best player on their respective teams, to have big time days tomorrow.

Justin Smith (Arkansas) vs. Lipscomb

Justin Smith and the Arkansas Razorbacks will be taking on Lipscomb in what should be an extremely fast-paced game.  We have already witnessed Arkansas score 142 points in a game.  Arkansas comes into this matchup priced extremely high, almost to high.  There are a few players that I will target in this game and one of those is Justin Smith.  Smith has been very solid for this Arkansas team leading them in minutes played and averaging 15 points and 5 rebounds per game.  Smith has also been extremely active on the defensive end averaging 3 steals per game.  I love the pace of this game, and expect Lipscomb to keep this one pretty close, forcing Arkansas to keep their rotation a little tighter, making their starters minutes more secure.  Smith is a very solid play here at only 7200.

Others to consider:  A. Asadullah (LIP); M. Vital (BAY); C. Vanover (ARK); K. Bryant (USC); Ira Lee (ARZ); K. Aiken Jr. (EWU); J. Groves (EWU); B. Gresham (HOU)
