Joey’s WNBA Props PP & MKF 08/14

Welcome back to another edition of my WNBA Props article. We’ve got a very interesting 3 game slate tonight, a lot of injuries and suspensions to factor in leading to a bunch of players that aren’t normally on the board. Let jump right into it.

Inactives

So we have 3 teams that are low lacking a lot of key playmakers that will lead to a not so normal slate.

Mystics: Both Tolliver and Atkins are inactive leading to a very thin backcourt for Washington.

Wings: We have both involved in the fight Saturday and a handful of suspensions were handing out. Thornton was the only real name suspended leaving a big hole on defense to an already shotty defensive team. Davis will serve her suspension after two more games so the Wings have enough players to field a team.

Mercury: Here’s where the really suspensions hit the team the hardest. Griner is going to be suspended for 3 games which leaves a lot of usage and fantasy points to go around.

Favorite Plays

Brianna Turner Under 26.5 fantasy points: I’m not truly convinced of the over on her. She started at 24.5 and I was on the fence for that I’m now confident to throw the under on her. Yes the minutes will increase with Griner our, yes the usage and opportunity should increase with Griner out. My issue with her is she is already rebounding at an elite level and percentage which is due for regression. Adding onto the fact that she will most likely be tasked

Nneka Ogwumike Over 37.0 fantasy points: My main worry about this play is the blowout risk. I love this play because we have Kayla Thornton one of the leagues best defenders suspended for the game so Nneka will have free run at the basket tonight. The only bright spot on what is a shitty Dallas team is how good of a defender Thornton is. Nneka who has been one of the best players this year will look to build on her impressive MVP caliber season tonight.

Monkey Knife Fight Play

This play is based of the game theory of the potential blowout. We have seen time and time again that the Suns will rest their Stars throughout the 4th if they have a comfortable lead. With the lack of depth and the Mercury missing their best player we could see an easy blowout here tonight.
