NBA DFS 11/27/18 – Ben’s Building Blocks

What’s up guys! I’m looking for a big rebound tonight after whiffing on James Harden last night, but with only a five game slate on tap this will be more of a who I’m targeting article rather than the typical cash games, since I dial back my cash game exposure a good bit on most slates that are six games and less. Let’s get to it!

Point Guard

Point Guard is a pretty clear spend down spot for me today, especially on FanDuel where the highest priced option is Mike Conley at $8,800 against a good Toronto defense, and then you have Kyle Lowry on the opposite side in a tough individual matchup with Conley. My favorite upper tier option is going to be Jamal Murray in a great matchup with the Los Angeles Lakers. The Lakers have seen their pace fall drastically over the last week and a half, but that doesn’t change the quality of the matchup overall and the fact that he provides a discount at just $7,300. He would be where I look at in cash games if spending up, with Trae Young becoming a fantastic tournament pivot in the “game of the night” against the Heat, with a 223.5 O/U in Vegas. It’s also worth noting that Murray has narrative street history against the Lakers and Lonzo Ball, going for 38+ FanDuel points in thee of his last four games against them…the outlier being a 32 fantasy point performance.

My Pool (In order of preference)

1. Jamal Murray

2. Darren Collison

3. Trae Young (GPP)

4. Jeremy Lin (value)

5. Ish Smith (value)

Shooting Guard

Shooting guard is pretty interesting to me tonight, with two strong upper tier plays in Devin Booker and Tim Hardaway Jr and some quality value plays. Ultimately, I think I want to focus on spending up at F/C on my main team, leaving the upper tier of SG for tournaments only. I will not, that changes a bit on DraftKings where Tim Hardaway Jr is listed at just $6,500, which is way too cheap. He’s a lock for me there, but better for GPPs on FanDuel.

My Pool

1. Tim Hardaway Jr (DraftKings)

2. Monte Morris

3. Devin Booker (GPP)

4. Wayne Ellington

5. Rodney McGruder

Small Forward

The top three small forwards on this slate are clearly LeBron James, Kawhi Leonard and Josh Richardson, but James and Leonard find themselves at high price tags in difficult matchups. Richardson sticks out as my favorite of the trio when factoring in price, he should start at point guard again for the Heat tonight in an incredible matchup with the Hawks, and he should thrive in the fast pace. There are also some great cheap options here, and it’s looking like Richardson + a value will be my favorite route for my main team tonight.

My Pool

1. Josh Richardson

2. LeBron James (GPP)

3. Trevor Ariza (value)

4. Bogdan Bogdanovic

5. Tyreke Evans

Power Forward

Power forward comes with one of my favorite overall options on this slate, Blake Griffin. There are some strong value plays as well, but to me I will be prioritizing getting Griffin onto my main team with some of the other cheap plays we have at other positions.

My Pool

1. Blake Griffin

2. James Johnson

3. Noah Vonleh

4. Thad Young

5. JaMychal Green

Center

Center is loaded once again on Tuesday night, containing arguably the top overall option on the slate in Nikola Jokic. It’s pretty top-heavy and lacks any elite value plays, so I will simply take the value elsewhere and look to spend up at center.

My Pool

1. Nikola Jokic

2. Andre Drummond (GPP)

3. Hassan Whiteside (GPP)

4. DeAndre Ayton
