NBA DFS 2/22/20 – Bales’ Stacks and Hidden Gems for DraftKings

Welcome to Bales’ Stacks and Hidden Gems for today’s NBA DFS slate for DraftKings! Below, I will discuss my favorite NBA DFS plays for tonight’s slate!

Easy Breezy: Chalk Stack

Dallas Mavericks

The Dallas Mavericks and Atlanta Hawks rank 20th and sixth in the NBA in pace, respectively. Dallas also leads the league in offensive rating, while Atlanta ranks 28th in defensive rating. The Mavs are currently -1 point favorites in a game set at 235.5 points, and they boast the highest implied team total on the slate at 118.3 points.

Jalen Brunson

Luka Doncic has been ruled out tonight. That will thrust Jalen Brunson into bigger minutes tonight. Through 56 games, Brunson is averaging 16.3 points, 4.7 rebonds, and 6.6 assists on a per-36 minute basis. He’s also averaging 0.95 DK points per minute in his limited role. Brunson has consistently found success when given the minutes, flashing 45 DK point upside. He’s expected to find 30+ minutes without Doncic in the lineup tonight, making him an outstanding play, even for an inflated price tag.

Seth Curry

Seth Curry is another player that will benefit from the absence of Doncic. He’ll likely see 30+ minutes tonight, while taking on a larger offensive role. Curry doesn’t boast an elite usage rating, but it should increase a bit tonight. Curry found plenty of success prior to the All Star Break, as well, averaging 33.6 DK points per game in his final 4 contests before the break. He also needed only 20.5 minutes to score 28 DK points in his only matchup against Atlanta this season. Similarly to Brunson, Curry boasts 40+ DK point upside when given the minutes. Keep an eye on his status prior to that game, though, as he’s currently questionable for tonight.

Maxi Kleber

Kristaps Porzingis has also been ruled out tonight, allowing Maxi Kleber to play a larger role in the Dallas rotation. He’s averaging 13.4 points, 7.5 rebounds, 1.5 assists, and 1.6 blocks on a per-36 minutes basis through 55 games this season. Kleber has also found success, averaging 0.84 DK points per minute this season. Kleber is expected to see 30+ minutes tonight, and he’ll be one of the highest owned players on this slate. He’s a must start in cash games tonight.

Important Odds: Vegas Stack

Miami Heat

The Miami Heat and Cleveland Cavaliers currently rank 26th and 21st in the NBA in pace this season. Miami also ranks ninth in the league in offensive rating, though, while Cleveland ranks 29th in defensive rating. The Heat are -14 point favorites in a game set at 222 points, and they possess one of the highest implied team totals on the slate tonight at 118 points.

Jimmy Butler

Jimmy Butler has been a bit of a boom or bust option for Miami on a nightly basis. Over his last 10 games, he has scored as high as 56.75 DK points, while also scoring as low as 27.25 DK points (his next game). Butler is a triple-double threat, who is averaging 39.9 DK points in 35.4 minutes per game against Cleveland this season. He’ll continue to be a focal point of the Heat offense, and he comes with tremendous upside for his price tag.

Jae Crowder

Jae Crowder has looked outstanding since joining Miami. Through 4 games, he’s averaging 17.0 points, 6.5 rebounds, 1.3 assists, and 1.5 steals in 28.5 minutes per game. He has cooled off in his last pair of games, but Crowder scored 39 and 45.75 DK points in his first 2 games with the team. He found success against Cleveland earlier this season, and Crowder comes with tremendous upside. Similarly to Butler, Crowder is a player that is better suited for tournaments tonight.

Bam Adebayo

Bam Adebayo is an option that has been a bit more consistent. He has scored 40+ DK points in 9 of his last 10 games. He’s also coming off of a 69.75 DK point performance against the Atlanta Hawks. Cleveland has struggled against the center this season, and Adebayo is a player that comes with 20/20 and triple-double potential. He’s still a bit cheap, and he’s a Miami player that can be considered in all leagues on this slate.

Hidden Gem: Value Guard

Tomas Satoransky

Tomas Satoransky has caught fire recently. He has scored 25+ DK points in 8 of his last 9 games, including each of his last 3 contests. Over that span, Satoransky is averaging 29.5 DK points per game. He’s also a triple-double threat, who possesses 40+ DK point upside when given the minutes.

Satoransky gets a great matchup against the Phoenix Suns, who rank ninth in the NBA in pace and 19th in defensive rating. Satoransky is expected to see 30-35 minutes tonight. He’s a player that is best suited for tournaments, and he could go overlooked with some of the other cheap guard options on this slate.

Hidden Gem: Value Big

Joe Harris

Harris is coming off of a bad game, but he has quietly been producing for the Brooklyn Nets. He’s averaging 24.3 DK points per game over his last 8 games. Harris posted 23+ DK points in 7 of those 8 games, as well. Furthermore, he flashed 35 DK point upside over that span.

Harris gets a plus matchup against the Charlotte Hornets tonight. They rank last in the NBA in pace, while also ranking 26th in defensive rating. Harris is averaging 24.8 DK points in 32.3 minutes per game against Charlotte this season, as well. He’s expected to find 30+ minutes in this game, making him a solid salary relief option, although he likely isn’t needed in cash games with the Dallas Mavericks resting Luka Doncic and Kristaps Porzingis tonight.
