NBA DFS 3/4/20 – Bales’ Stacks and Hidden Gems for DraftKings

Welcome to Bales’ Stacks and Hidden Gems for today’s NBA DFS slate for DraftKings! Below, I will discuss my favorite NBA DFS plays for tonight’s slate!

Easy Breezy: Chalk Stack

Washington Wizards

The Washington Wizards and Portland Blazers rank fifth and 11th in the NBA in pace, respectively. Washington also ranks 11th in the league in offensive rating, while Portland ranks 27th in defensive rating. The Wizards are +7.5 point underdogs in a game set at 241.5 points, but they feature an implied team total of 117 points.

Shabazz Napier

Ish Smith has been downgraded to doubtful tonight, allowing other guards to find more minutes. Shabazz Napier will be one of the biggest beneficiaries. He’s averaging 11.0 points, 2.0 erbounds, 4.2 assists, and 2.2 steals (23.5 DK points) in only 25.4 minutes per game over the last 10 days. He saw 30+ minutes in only 1 of those 6 contests, scoring 47 DK points against the Milwaukee Bucks. Napier is expected to see around 30 minutes tonight, and he’s a must start in a Washington stack in cash games tonight.

Jerome Robinson

Jerome Robinson is another player that will benefit from the injury to Smith. He played 20+ minutes in each of his last 4 games. In those contests, Robinson is averaging 7.5 points, 3.0 rebounds, 1.3 assists, 1.0 block, and 1.0 steal (17.3 DK points) in 23.5 minutes per game. He saw 30 minutes in his last contest, scoring 22.5 DK points against the Sacramento Kings. Robinson possesses more upside than he has flashed in recent games because of  his scoring potential. Similarly to Napier, Robinson is expected to play around 30 minutes tonight. He’s far too cheap to avoid, making him a solid option in all leagues on this slate.

Bradley Beal

Bradley Beal has been playing at an elite level for quite some time. He’s averaging 41.5 points, 3.5 rebounds, 6.3 assists, and 2.3 steals (61.2 DK points) in 38.6 minutes per game over the last 10 days. Beal has scored 50+ DK points in each of his last 6 games, including a pair of games with 70+ DK points. Surprisingly, Beal has been better on the road this season, and that could continue tonight. He’s locked into minutes in the high-30s or low-40s, and he’s an elite play on this slate.

Important Odds: Vegas Stack

Minnesota Wolves

The Minnesota Wolves and Chicago Bulls currently rank second and 15th in the NBA in pace this season. Minnesota only ranks 23rd in the league in offensive rating, while Chicago ranks 12th in defensive rating. The Wolves are -2.5 point favorites in a game set at 231.5 points, and they possess one of the highest implied team totals on the slate at 117 points tonight.

D’Angelo Russell

D’Angelo Russell continues to make a top option for Minnesota. He’s averaging 24.6 points, 4.6 rebounds, 6.6 assists, and 1.6 steals (44.5 DK points) in 33.2 minutes per game over the last 10 days. He posted 40+ DK points in each of his last 7 games, while flashing 60 DK point upside over that span. Russell has been at his best in Minnesota with his new team, and he’ll see 30+ minutes again tonight. He’s a player that can be considered in all leagues on this slate, but is best suited for tournaments.

Juan Hernangomez

Juan Hernangomez has performed well recently. He’s averaging 13.0 points, 7.7 rebounds, 1.7 assists, and 1.2 steals (28.8 DK points) in 29.2 minutes per game over the last 10 days. Hernangomez has scored 29+ DK points in each of his last 4 games, including a 50.25 DK point performance against the Orlando Magic. Hernangomez will see 30+ minutes once again tonight, making him an outstanding option for his price tag.

Naz Reid

Naz Reid has seen plenty of ups and downs throughout the 2019 season. He has seen 27 minutes in each of his last 2 games, though, scoring 46.5 and 27 DK points. Through 26 games this season, Reid is averaging 1.15 DK points per minute. He gets an elite matchup against Chicago, who features one of the worst defenses in the NBA against centers. Reid is expected to see minutes in the high-20s tonight, making him an elite tournament option.

Wildcard GPP: Low Owned Stack

Brooklyn Nets

The Brooklyn Nets rank 10th in the NBA in pace, while the Memphis Grizzlies rank seventh in the league in the same category. Brooklyn only ranks 22nd in the NBA in offensive rating, while Memphis ranks 16th in defensive rating. The Nets are -1.5 point favorites in a game set at 223.5 points, giving them an implied team total of 112.5 points.

Spencer Dinwiddie

Spencer Dinwiddie has been a boom or bust option in recent games. He’s averaging 19.2 points, 3.5 rebounds, and 8.2 assists (37.4 DK points) in 30.3 minutes per game over the last 10 days. He posted 49+ DK points in 2 of his last 3 games, though. Dinwiddie is expected to return to 30+ minutes in this game. He’s a focal point of the Brooklyn offense, and comes with tremendous upside for his price tag.

Caris LeVert

Caris LeVert is another option that has flashed elite upside. Over the last 10 days, he’s averaging 25.7 points, 4.0 rebounds, 4.8 assists, and 2.2 steals (42.7 DK points) in 32.4 minutes per game. He posted 60+ DK points in 2 of his last 4 games. LeVert is expected to see minutes in the mid-30s tonight. He performed well in his only matchup against Memphis this season, and makes an elite option on this slate.

DeAndre Jordan

DeAndre Jordan’s inconsistent minutes have kept his production inconsistent, as well. He’s averaging 9.0 points, 9.8 rebounds, and 1.2 assists (24.4 DK points) in only 24.3 minutes per game over the last 10 days. He saw 30+ minutes in 2 of his last 4 games, scoring 29.25 and 37 DK points in those games. Jordan is expected to find minutes in the mid-20s tonight, making him a boom or bust option that will feature low ownership on this slate.

Hidden Gem: Value Guard

Matthew Dellavedova

Matthew Dellavedova has been playing bigger minutes in recent games. He’s averaging 7.0 points, 1.5 rebounds, and 4.8 assists (16.9 DK points) in 22.8 minutes per game over his last 4 games. Dellavedova has seen 25+ minutes in 2 of those 4 games, scoring 23.5 and 19.25 DK points. He’s a veteran who has flashed more upside in the past, and could find success moving forward.

Dellavedova gets a tough matchup against the Boston Celtics. They rank 17th and fourth in the NBA in pace and defensive rating. Dellavedova is expected to see around 30 minutes tonight with Darius Garland out. He’s cheap enough to be considered in all leagues, but is better suited for tournaments with some of the other salary relief options on this slate.

Hidden Gem: Value Big

Moritz Wagner

Moritz Wagner has seen mixed results throughout the 2019 season. He’s averaging 3.3 points, 3.0 rebounds, and 1.8 assists (10.7 DK points) in only 14.4 minutes per game over the last 10 days. Wagner has played 20+ minutes in 3 of his last 10 games, scoring 28, 21.25, and 33.25 DK points in those games. He’s also averaging a healthy 1.05 DK points per minute on the season.

Wagner gets a great matchup against the Portland Blazers, which has already been outlined above. He’s expected to see around 20 minutes with Thomas Bryant sitting out. Wagner has the potential to play upwards of 30 minutes, though. He isn’t safe enough to be used in cash games, but can be considered in tournaments tonight.
