NBA DFS – Bales’ Top GPP Play (4/28/21)

Welcome to another edition of Bales’ Top GPP Play. In this article, I will outline my favorite NBA GPP play for today’s games. If you want all of my core plays along with our staff’s Final Thoughts articles and access to our Discord, click here

Chuma Okeke

Okeke’s seen mixed results throughout the season for the Orlando Magic. He’s averaging 7.5 points, 4.0 rebounds, 2.2 assists, and 1.0 steal, (19 fantasy points) in 25.1 minutes per game through 44 contests. Okeke’s seen an increased role in recent games, as he’s averaging 25 fantasy points in 31.1 minutes per game over the last 10 days. He’s scored 20+ fantasy points in 7 of his last 9 games, including performances with 31.75 and 32 fantasy points.

Okeke gets an interesting matchup against the Cleveland Cavaliers tonight. They rank 24th in the NBA in pace and 22nd in defensive efficiency this season. Cleveland’s also seen mixed results against opposing power forwards. Okeke’s usage rating fluctuates quite a bit, as it shifts anywhere from 15% to 25% most nights. He’s taken double-digit shot attempts in 8 consecutive games while possessing the ability to contribute in each of the five categories. Okeke’s expected to continue to play 30+ minutes for Orlando, as he’s a young player they’re hoping to develop. As a young player, he’ll feature plenty of ups and downs, but I believe his talent is significantly higher than his current price tag. He’s a risky option, but he comes with more than enough upside to be used in tournaments on this slate.
