NBA DFS – Bales’ Top GPP Plays (1/14/20)

Welcome to another edition of Bales’ Top GPP plays. In this article, I will outline my favorite NBA GPP plays for today’s games. If you want all of my core plays along with our staff’s Final Thoughts articles and access to our Discord, click here

Guards

Shake Milton

Milton’s found success through nine games this season. He’s averaging 14.1 points, 1.7 rebounds, 3.3 assists, and 1.0 steal (23.5 fantasy points) in 25.6 minutes per game. Milton played 36 minutes in his last game, scoring 34.75 fantasy points against the Brooklyn Nets. He’s posted 24+ fantasy points in each of his last 5 games, averaging 28.9 fantasy points per game over that span.

Milton gets an interesting matchup against the Miami Heat tonight. They rank 10th in the NBA in pace and 13th in defensive efficiency this season. With that being said, they will be without a number of starters tonight. Milton, on the other hand, is expected to return from the Covid protocol in this game. He generally boasts a usage rating of around 20%, and he’s expected to see similar usage with Seth Curry out tonight. Milton’s also expected to find minutes in the high-20s or low-30s on this slate. There are a number of chalk options tonight, similar to recent nights with teams running short rotations, making Milton an outstanding tournament option in the mid-tier.

Bigs

Draymond Green

Green’s struggled early this season. Through 7 games, he’s averaging 4.4 points, 5.1 rebounds, 6.6 assists, and 1.3 steals (23.3 fantasy points) in 27.1 minutes per game. Green failed to top 25 fantasy points in any of his first 5 games of the season. He’s posted 30 and 39.25 fantasy points in his last 2 games, though, flashing triple-double potential in each of those contests.

Green gets a great matchup against the Denver Nuggets tonight. Denver only ranks 25th in the league in pace, but they’ve struggled, ranking 26th in defensive efficiency this season. Green barely saw usage early in the season, but he’s seen his usage rating sit at 15%+ over his last 2 games. It’s expected to sit around there once again tonight. Green’s also expected to play 30+ minutes in this game, giving him triple-double upside for a low price tag once again. This is another slate that most will more or less take a stars and scrubs approach, as there are a number of salary relief options. Similar to Milton, Green’s price is in the mid-tier, allowing him to go overlooked tonight. He comes with elite upside with his current price tag.
