NBA DFS – Tristan’s GPP Plays (1/7/22)

Happy Friday everyone! We have a nice big slate ahead of us, TON of news, a bunch of chalk..  This is a great time to get those low-owned punts into your lineup for tournaments. Let’s dive into some of my favorite GPP plays for tonight!

Point Guard

Similar to all positions, I want players with the highest upside and the highest floor. We want generally a low risk/high reward player that won’t kill the entire line if he busts. Starting off, I’m looking at Jalen Brunson who will be fairly chalky tonight but he has a high floor and high upside that we’re looking for. With both Luka and Porzingis off the floor Brunson gets a 5.4% usage bump and is known to take more of a scoring role on to replace the missing points. Not only that, but he’s at a nice price of 7k when usually we’d see him above this price a bit when this happened earlier in the season. Also, the Rockets play at the 3rd fastest pace in the league and are the 2nd to last defense in the league. Fire him up

BONUS: Kevin Porter Jr

Shooting Guard

Here I am looking at someone who I believe will get run regardless and will also be blowout proof…the Spurs will be missing about 5 guys due to health protocols today, including 3 wing players in Keldon Johnson, Devin Vassell, and Doug McDermott. Because of this, a ton of people are going to have to step up. I’m looking at Bryn Forbes as my GPP SG today because of his volume the last couple of days, specifically his 35 min game with 22 FGA. That might have to happen tonight because they are missing Derrick White as well. The 76ers love to play down to their opponents level and in this case, the Spurs are obviously not on the same level as they usually are…but I expect this to be semi competitive. If this does blowout, I’m looking at Josh Primo.

BONUS: Seth Curry

Small Forward

Similar to the situation with Bryn Forbes, I am looking at another Spurs wing player but this time it’s Lonnie Walker. Lonnie Walker sees a huge usage bump with all of those Spurs players out and has to take on a huge scoring role, having to replace about 30ish points from the Spurs that are out…and I expect Lonnie to pick up a ton of slack. This is strictly a GPP play for me and that might surprise some people because of how high owned he might be today…but there’s still a chance Lonnie doesn’t feel 100p off of coming back from COVID as well.

BONUS: Dorian Finney Smith

Power Forward

Jordan Nwora is my next GPP target because of the absence of a ton of Bucks due to protocols. Without the wings of Connaughton and Allen on the court along with Jrue Holiday, Nwora sees a 4% usage bump, while achieving 1.69 more rebs, .69 assists, and 1.46 points. All positives here for Nwora, going against a BKN team that seems like they are having trouble closing and putting away bad teams. Now they have to face a team vs Giannis… I don’t see this blowing out at all! (I just jinxed myself)

BONUS: Jerome Robinson – Earl

Center

For the center position, I am targeting my guy Dwight Powell. This guy is strictly boom or bust for me and could easily get benched in this matchup seeing that they usually run a winged PF. Without Luka and Porzingis on the  floor, Powell does not see that much of a usage bump..but he does have more pts, reb, and assists per 36. He’s very cheap at 3.6k and if he reaches 25 here, that will easily help you pay up for other players.  One thing to note… I do like Maxi Kleber tonight who I expect to play the 5 spot if they do run Powell off the court. Kleber is a great play today but on DK he is only PF eligible. Keep an eye out!

BONUS: Wonder if Jock Landale gets run at PF tonight… we’ll see!

I’ve yet to write up the Jazz guys because we still don’t know who is playing at the moment…keep an eye out for news!
