NBA Jock MKT Play (1/26)

Jock MKT is one of the most interesting forms of DFS. In this article, I’ll break down what Jock MKT is and my favorite NBA buy for tonight’s slate.

What Is Jock MKT?

The simplest way to outline this is daily fantasy sports meets the stock market. You’ll purchase shares of players for varying amounts, depending on how much others are willing to pay for them during the IPO. Once the Live Trading starts, you can buy players that others want to sell or sell your players during the game. Once all of the games have ended, you will receive money based on how well your player performs compared to the field on the Jock MKT app for this week.

1/26 Buy

Chris Duarte, SF, Indiana Pacers

Highest Potential Bid: $5.00

Break-Even Point: 34

If you’re new to Jock MKT, you may be struggling to read what’s listed below the Duarte recommendation. Essentially, I’m willing to spend up to $5 per share for Duarte. He needs to finish 34th in the field for me to make my money back with the opportunity for me to make more if he finishes higher.

For example, if I buy 1 share of Duarte at $5 and he finishes 34th in this field, I make my $5 back. If he finishes 1st, I win $25 (profit $20). If he finishes last, I win $1 (lose $4). It’s that simple.

Duarte’s seen mixed results throughout his rookie season for the Indiana Pacers. He’s averaging 13.6 points, 4.1 rebounds, 2.3 assists, and 1.1 steals in 29 minutes per game. He’s been extremely inconsistent, scoring as few as 11.75 fantasy points and as many as 48.75 fantasy points in his last six games.

The key here is Duarte’s expanded role with Domantas Sabonis and Malcolm Brogdon out. He’s averaging 19 points, 4.3 rebounds, 3.5 assists, and 1.3 steals per game without them in the lineup. Myles Turner is also out tonight, confirming Duarte’s bigger offensive role.

The rookie’s been inconsistent without them in the lineup, but his upside is undeniable. Overall, he’s recorded 23+ fantasy points in five consecutive games. More importantly, he boasts games of 47.25 and 48.75 fantasy points over that span.

Duarte ranks 77th in Jock MKT’s pre-rank for tonight. He’s projected at only 24.7 fantasy points. He’s beat that score in four of his last five games, and Duarte comes with tremendous upside for his potential cost. He also gets an elite matchup against the Charlotte Hornets, who’ve pushed the pace and struggled defensively, specifically against shooting guards, throughout the season.
