Thoughts:

Updates to come to this section as we approach lock so continue to check back for more insight.

  • For the first time in awhile we have a huge Saturday slate, filled with injuries and a ton of teams on back to backs. The notable injuries we have to worry about that are questionable- Walker, McCollum (more likely out), VanVleet (more likely to play), Robinson III, AD, Adams, and we have to worry about guys like Love, Towns, Siakam/Gasol playing on the second end of a b2b coming off injury or load management (Love). In addition to that, Jaylen Brown, Kelly Oubre Jr. and Draymond Green have all already been ruled out. Let’s get into roster construction with all these injuries in mind.
  • If we are starting roster construction on both sites, I would start off with Damian Lillard. McCollum injured his ankle pretty bad and I don’t expect him to suit up tonight. With that being said, Lillard should handle all ball handling duties and be the main guy while working with Melo and Whiteside. I would only be concerned with the b2b, on the road, but the usage bump is really nice. Another player I considered putting here that I will likely have in my core is Jayson Tatum. The kid is having a great year and if Kemba is out as well, Tatum will be the #1 guy on that squad. He’s going to be in about 75% of my lineups but if no Kemba too, 100%.
  • The second player I’ll be building around is Eric Paschall. No Draymond tonight, Paschall should get a nice bump and has been trending up lately. I love the spot he’s in, he should get a ton of shots up. Great value on tonight’s slate. Honorable mentions are Luke Kornet and Daniel Theis for value on FanDuel.
  • For studs, I like LeBron if AD doesn’t play, and will still be exposed if AD does suit up. I am fading Harden tonight, Trae is nice but on a b2b and Jeff Teague is active. To me, this slate is a good balanced slate.
  • Another play I would want to revolve my lineups around is Hassan Whiteside (on DK) where he is extremely cheap, and Hayward/Tobias on FD. Both those SFs are cheap and in great spots.
  • This slate is honestly going to be pretty balanced, a lot of injury news to wait on, personally I like pieces of Boston (Tatum,Hayward, Smart), Cleveland if Love sits(Sexton, Thompson, Garland), GS (Russell, Paschall, Lee), Lakers (LeBron, AD), Detroit (Drummond, Rose, Morris), 76ers (Simmons/Harris/Horford) and Blazers(Lillard, Whiteside, Anthony).
  • Now, for tournaments, this is where I believe we can get a little more “different”. I would use the other plays listed below to differentiate yourself from the field.
  • Below are the players I would consider in your “pool” tonight when building 3-20 lineups.  This is 100% the approach everyone reading this article should be taking tonight.  There are plenty of 3-max, 5-max, 20-max contests to enter
  • The players I’m using in my “pool” tonight (outside of locking Lillard, Tatum,Paschall)
      • LeBron James
      • 76ers (Horford/Harris/Simmons)
      • Hassan Whiteside
      • Carmelo Anthony
      • Marcus Smart
      • Derrick Rose
      • Collin Sexton
      • Gordon Hayward
      • Danilo Gallinari
      • Markieff Morris
      • Damion Lee
      • Luke Kornet
      • Daniel Theis
      • Larry Nance
      • Markelle Fultz
      • Aaron Gordon
      • John Collins
    • We’re still waiting on a few pieces of information, so keep your eyes peeled.
    • Remember to try to add as much correlation to your lineups as possible.  More games go to OT than you think in the NBA and mini-game stacks are an underutilized strategy in NBA DFS tournaments.  (Again, you can use the table above to identify the game-stacks I’ll be on).
    • PHO v BOS could be the nuts game stack today, BOS is super short handed if Kemba sits, so guys like Smart, Hayward, and Tatum would be thrusted into bigger roles, while guys like Theis and Wanamaker could get bumps as well. I would run it back with Booker/Rubio/Ayton.
