Thoughts:

Updates to come to this section as we approach lock so continue to check back for more insight.

  • Another great slate tonight. We have a ton of injury news we need to account for, starting with Kemba Walker and Damian Lillard. This opens up a ton for both teams, Celtics and Blazers will be in my core tonight for sure. Let’s get into it.
  • If we are starting roster construction on both sites, I would start with Celtics. I will start with Jaylen Brown, who should be good to go tonight after a week to recover from his leg injury. With Kemba out, Brown should see a good volume of shots, and a matchup vs the Wolves is just what we needed tonight. Next, I like Tatum but his price is pretty hefty on FD. He’s near 9k on FanDuel, and just a tad under 8k on DK. I like Tatum much more on DK where he will be in my core, compared to on FanDuel where he is just 2k less than Davis. In addition to Tatum and Brown, I love Marcus Smart in this matchup, the steals and blocks upside is amazing vs this careless and fast pace Wolves team. Hayward is 7k on both sites so I’ll be staying away and opting for Brown for much cheaper.
  • The other place I’ll be looking to when building lineups today is the Blazers. Starting with McCollum, he should be the alpha tonight for this squad, and he’s cheap. Moving onto Carmelo, they really disrespected him with that price. He went 1-15 last game so tonight expect something better than that for sure. I love Whiteside as well as the pace of this game will boost his blocks upside.
  • The other stud I like on this slate: Luka Doncic. I’m not sure how high owned he will be but he isn’t in the best spot vs the Magic and KP back, but he always provides a safe floor and a good ceiling.
  • Some value plays I want to mention: Oladipo (FD) Naz Reid, James Johnson, Ish Smith, RJ Barrett
  • Now, for tournaments, this is where I believe we can get a little more “different”. I would use the other plays listed below to differentiate yourself from the field.
  • Below are the players I would consider in your “pool” tonight when building 3-20 lineups.  This is 100% the approach everyone reading this article should be taking tonight.  There are plenty of 3-max, 5-max, 20-max contests to enter
  • The players I’m using in my “pool” tonight (outside of locking Blazers, Celtics)
      • Luka Doncic
      • Kyle Lowry
      • Donovan Mitchell
      • Fred VanVleet
      • Victor Oladipo (FD only)
      • Pascal Siakam
      • Brandon Ingram (DK only)
      • Lonzo Ball
      • Joe Ingles
      • Ish Smith
      • Zion Williamson
      • Serge Ibaka
      • James Johnson
      • RJ Barrett
      • Jordan Clarkson
      • Naz Reid
    • We’re still waiting on a few pieces of information, so keep your eyes peeled.
    • Remember to try to add as much correlation to your lineups as possible.  More games go to OT than you think in the NBA and mini-game stacks are an underutilized strategy in NBA DFS tournaments.  (Again, you can use the table above to identify the game-stacks I’ll be on).
    • My top game stack of the night will be NOP/POR I absolutely love the pace of this game and without Dame the Blazers will be feeding the ball to Melo/CJ/Whiteside while the Pelicans run their offense through their young stars in Ingram/Zo/Zion/Jrue.
