Thoughts:

Updates to come to this section as we approach lock so continue to check back for more insight.

  • A great MLK day slate on DraftKings- this article is only guided towards DK compared to my other articles due to their split slate. Some injury news we are waiting on is Kyrie Irving, Al Horford, Marvin Bagley, Jrue Holiday, and Derrick Favors. Let’s get started!
  • If we are starting roster construction on both sites, I would start with Andre Drummond. Andre should feast against WAS today and he is below 10k. WAS is awful in the paint but with Mahinmi and Bryant they could give Drummond a harder time, however I just don’t see it. He’s in a terrific spot and that price doesn’t get any better.
  • The second player I’ll be building around is Danilo Gallinari. A little out of the box here! I love him tonight. His price is way too low for a guy who should be around 7k. He faces HOU tonight and I love his upside, he’s going to be giving you 35+ today in this spot.
  • For studs, I like Giannis vs the Bulls and Simmons vs the Nets if Horford doesn’t suit up. Giannis is fairly priced in what could be a big blowout as it has been in their previous two matchups. Ben could have a huge bump if Horford doesn’t play. For now I don’t think I’ll be playing a stud but if I do (other than Drummond) here is where I’ll be looking.
  • For value, I am looking at Nunn, Bullock, Allen, Crowder, B. Lopez (LOCK for me).
  • This slate is honestly going to be pretty balanced, we have to wait for Kyrie news because Dinwiddie will be locked if he is out. I love Brook Lopez who is incorrectly priced, along with Jarrett Allen if you pay up a little more.
  • Now, for tournaments, this is where I believe we can get a little more “different”. I would use the other plays listed below to differentiate yourself from the field.
  • Below are the players I would consider in your “pool” tonight when building 3-20 lineups.  This is 100% the approach everyone reading this article should be taking tonight.  There are plenty of 3-max, 5-max, 20-max contests to enter
  • The players I’m using in my “pool” tonight (outside of locking Drummond, Gallinari, Brook Lopez)
      • Giannis ABC
      • Zach Lavine
      • Ben Simmons
      • De’Aaron Fox
      • Nikola Vucevic
      • Kevin Love
      • Pascal Siakam
      • Bradley Beal
      • Jonas Valanciunas
      • Chris Paul
      • Spencer Dinwiddie (gets bumped to lock if Kyrie out)
      • Jarrett Allen
      • Dillon Brooks
      • Kendrick Nunn
      • Reggie Bullock
      • Derrick Rose
      • Jae Crowder
      • Marc Gasol
    • We’re still waiting on a few pieces of information, so keep your eyes peeled.
    • Remember to try to add as much correlation to your lineups as possible.  More games go to OT than you think in the NBA and mini-game stacks are an underutilized strategy in NBA DFS tournaments.  (Again, you can use the table above to identify the game-stacks I’ll be on).
    • PHO v BOS could be the nuts game stack today, BOS is super short handed if Kemba sits, so guys like Smart, Hayward, and Tatum would be thrusted into bigger roles, while guys like Theis and Wanamaker could get bumps as well. I would run it back with Booker/Rubio/Ayton.
