Thoughts:

Updates to come to this section as we approach lock so continue to check back for more insight.

  • A great 12 game slate today that has a ton of nice, fast-paced games. To start I want to point out that Clippers and Boston present the most value with Paul George, Kawhi Leonard, and Patrick Beverley out for the Clippers, and Jaylen Brown out for the Celtics. This will definitely dictate our lineups.
  • If we are starting roster construction on both sites, I would start with Lou Williams. Lou will be the #1 option for the Clippers tonight with the two stars out and his price is super nice. At 6.3k, he should have no problem hitting his value of around 35. The ATL Hawks play absolutely no defense and I love the spot Lou has with all this usage. I would pair Lou with Montrezl Harrell who is also very cheap and will soak up a good amount of usage as well.
  • The second player I’ll be building around is Jayson Tatum. Tatum is super nice tonight vs MEM with no Brown. He’s still sub 8k and has a nice floor for cash games. I honestly like all of Boston, I don’t mind going Kemba and Hayward in the same lineup as Tatum tonight.
  • On FanDuel, some mis-priced guys that we can look to for value are Donavan Mitchell, Buddy Hield and Michael Porter Jr. On DraftKings I think we can look for Landry Shamet who is mispriced on both sites actually but on DK with the 3 point bonus I love Shamet tonight.
  • This slate will be super balanced as the only real studs we have tonight aren’t in fantastic matchups. I like Trae Young if he ends up playing, but ultimately Russell Westbrook is my favorite stud on the board.
  • Now, for tournaments, this is where I believe we can get a little more “different”. I would use the other plays listed below to differentiate yourself from the field.
  • Below are the players I would consider in your “pool” tonight when building 3-20 lineups.  This is 100% the approach everyone reading this article should be taking tonight.  There are plenty of 3-max, 5-max, 20-max contests to enter
  • The players I’m using in my “pool” tonight (outside of locking Lou, Harrell, Tatum, one of Kemba/Hayward)
      • Russell Westbrook
      • DeMar DeRozan
      • Zach Lavine
      • Bam Adebayo
      • Buddy Hield
      • Donavan Mitchell
      • DeAndre Ayton
      • Rudy Gobert
      • LeBron James
      • Will Barton
      • Jerami Grant
      • Nikola Jokic
      • Ricky Rubio
      • Pascal Siakam
    • We’re still waiting on a few pieces of information, so keep your eyes peeled.
    • Remember to try to add as much correlation to your lineups as possible.  More games go to OT than you think in the NBA and mini-game stacks are an underutilized strategy in NBA DFS tournaments.  (Again, you can use the table above to identify the game-stacks I’ll be on).
    • LAC/ATL could be the nuts game stack today. I love running Lou/Harrell/Shamet and then running it back with Young/Collins/Huerter.
