- This PREMIUM article features top offensive batters per position
- This includes value plays, upside plays, and contrarian plays
- Strategic game theory on why we are selecting these batters
- Advice on the best “Game Stacks” of the day
- The same players in these articles are the same players you can find in the core of our lineups!!
*I'm writing this article off of the current projected lineup. I do this so I can get the information out to you guys early to start making your lineups but some players who I write about may ultimately be held out of the starting lineup which is something you need to keep an eye on if you construct your rosters earlier in the day*
Everyone make sure to head to our Youtube Channel "DFS Karma" and check out my MLB GPP build for tonight's slate. I'll be posting these videos 4-5 nights a week for the slate the following day.
Top Stacks – One of the most important concepts to understand in DFS MLB. Watch our daily YouTube live podcast for more information on this understanding/mindset. Keep in mind it is ok to stack 4 guys or 3 from the same team. This mathematically increases your chances of “cashing” in tournaments. It isn’t as necessary to stack in cash games (double ups/heads up). Below is our rankings starting from the best at number 1.
Phillies - The Phillies in one of the most hitter-friendly parks in the MLB against Julio Teheran is a potential explosion spot. This Philly team is one I'm extremely high on this year and I think that their early season success continues. Julio Teheran is specifically terrible at home posting a 5.86 ERA at home compared to a respectable 3.14 ERA away last year. Teheran also really struggles when attempting to keep left-handers off base. He had an insane 5.08 BB/9 (12.8%) against lefties in 2017 with a 5.56 xFIP (YIKES!). With the short porch in right field you need to LOAD up on lefties for the Phillies tonight and as always lock in Rhys Hoskins.
- I prefer the lefties in this stack.
Favorite One-Off: Carlos Santana
Rays - We're going to get the Rays at some pretty low ownership tonight considering 1/2 of their starting lineup could be playing in AAA ball. Martin Perez is one of the worst starting pitchers in the league at the moment and he has not helped his case in 2018 posting a 6.01 SIERA, 6.86 xFIP, and a 59% (!!!!) hard contact rate. In 2017 he was actually average against his fellow lefties so we're going to want to just load up on the righty bats in this spot. Outside of Denard Span and Mallex Smith, the Rays actually have some decent righty power in Gomez, Cron, Duffy, and Ramos so these are the guys I'll be looking to stack from the Rays tonight.
- I prefer 3-6 in this stack.
Favorite One-Off: Carlos Gomez
**Lowest Owned Stack that could go off** - Taking an early look at the slate I think both of the teams listed above will be "low-owned". A wild-card stack I think you can consider is the Mariners against Dallas Keuchel who has not looked good in 2018.
Game Theory Angle for Today –
There are basically three pitcher's I have any interest tonight and each one I put into my lineup will lead to a different type of roster construction. On Draftkings I'm going to mix and match the three pitcher's so I get some different lineup construction out of it. The three pitcher's I'm considering are Jacob DeGrom, James Paxton, and Luis Castillo. I'll then be stacking the two teams above with some other players I think have high upside or that are in elite spots. I'll be going more "chalky" at pitcher today and using my stacks to get contrarian.
If I was making a few bold calls I think that Carlos Santana has the best chance to hit 2 HR's and I think CJ Cron is a low owned player who could homer. While my favorite one-off player would be Carlos Gomez.
