AB’s LPL Breakdown 6/9/20

What’s up Karma Nation, it’s your boy Art aka AB making my article debut. I’ve been following LOL for about 2 years now and I have to say, it’s been an exciting year (minus Covid19). Since all real sports went into hiatus, we’ve been blessed with huge prize pools in eSports on DK. I’ll be breaking down these 2-game LPL slates while the rest of the leagues kick off in the upcoming weeks. Let’s get that good Karma rolling all summer long!

VG +105

RNG -145
VG came out rolling in their first game of the season taking care of BLG. VG showed great execution and were patient choosing when to pick fights and showed overall good team chemistry. I wouldn’t necessarily call VG a top tier team but they’re definitely in middle of the pack and I can see them stealing a series or two from top tier teams that might otherwise take them for granted. They do have substitutes in 3 out of their 5 positions, so rostering any of those guys comes with a bit of risk if they drop a game.

RNG came out rolling in similar fashion, quickly dismantling an OMG team that was getting a ton of hype. NEW looked decent playing for his new team and showed his abilities on Ornn in Game 2. The guy that impressed me the most was Xiaohu who came out with a chip on his shoulder after a lot of talk and concern about him starting over Cryin. In my opinion Cryin is a better player, but it wouldn’t surprise me to see RNG keep starting Xiaohu specially if he keeps playing the way he did.

My prediction is RNG win this series 2-1

SN +300
JDG -475
SN looked good in their first win of the season against LNG. They were decisive and didn’t second guess themselves, I was a bit surprised we didn’t see them play with their food like they did in the Spring Split but nonetheless they got the job done. I wouldn’t put too much weight behind that win however, LNG isn’t really a powerhouse (I know they just beat FPX last night).

The reigning Spring Split champions are making their Summer debut after a lackluster performance at MSC. To be honest, they looked kind of tired at MSC, not executing properly and making some bad judgement calls. I would’ve thought they would come out with a fire and prove to the LCK teams that they were the best team in Asia but that wasn’t the case. Their roster remains unchanged with some individual top tier players at various positions including Kanavi and Zoom, not to mentioned Spring Split Final MVP LvMao.

It’s been a strange start to the season, and I think we continue to see that tonight. My prediction is SN win this series 2-1.
