Slate Thoughts:

G2 was the top play on the slate yesterday, and they quickly showed why they are going to be a force to be reckoned with this split. Some thought they may come out of the gates slow with new ADC Rekkles, but Rekkles played extremely well with his new team and they quickly dismantled MAD. G2 are obviously going to be extremely expensive, but they are a strong play in cash games, and carry huge upside for tournaments.

Speaking of MAD, even though they just got ran through by G2, I really like how they match up vs. this Astralis team.  Astralis is not expected to be a very good team this split, and showed why in their first match, getting beat by SK pretty handedly.  MAD is a team that can rack up high kill totals, especially vs. inferior teams like Astralis.  Pairing MAD and G2 in cash is an option, but both of these teams are very expensive, so it will make it hard to make that happen without playing a Support captain.  Both of these teams have crazy kill upside and it may just be the optimal route to take. In Gpp’s I love playing one of MAD or G2 and pairing them with S04, RGE or MSF.

Speaking of S04, they were able to take care of Vitality in their first match of the split. They are a team that finished last split on a high note, and a team that also showed plenty of upside. This matchup vs. XL is one where I think both teams have a good shot at a victory,  a true toss up for me. I expect S04 will be one of the lower owned favorites on this slate, and make for a great tournament option. MSF is another team that I am particularly interested in targeting in tournaments, and they fit nicely with either G2 or MAD.  They are currently the underdogs in their matchup vs. Vitality, which I don’t completely understand.  MSF made quick work of FNC in their upset win, and I expect much of the same here in their matchup vs. Vitality.
