Antonio’s Week 5 Waiver Wire Targets

I hope you’ve been following my waiver suggestions, as we’ve had a lot of hits off the list! Without further ado let’s look at the top waiver wire pickups for Week 5.

Running Back

Target #1: Damien Williams

Damien “The Cat” Williams has found himself fantasy relevant once again. Unfortunately, David Montgomery is going to be out for what sounds like 4-6 weeks, leaving the door open for Williams to be the bellcow in Chicago. Now, this isn’t a league winning pickup as the Bears’ offense is mostly anemic, but if you’re in a running back bind don’t be afraid to sprinkle some extra FAAB points on the Cat.

Target #2: Samaje Perine

Man, it seems like this guy has been in the league forever. With the yearly injury to Mixon finally arriving, Samaje looks to be the RB1 in Cincy for at least a week or two. While I wouldn’t go crazy trying to get Perine, if you’re in a deeper league he can be a nice flex option to get you through Week 5 and maybe 6.

Honorable Mentions:

Brandon Bolden (0.1% Rostered)

Alex Collins (0.2% Rostered)

Wide Receiver

Target #1:  Kadarius Toney

I hope you listened last week, as Toney had a team high 9 targets for 6 catches and 78 yards against the Saints. Toney is benefiting from the injuries to Sterling Shephard and Darius Slayton, allowing him to get his feet under him in the NFL. He is a good bench stash in PPR leagues and could be a flex play in deeper leagues.

Reid says Josh Gordon fitting in well with Chiefs

Target #2: Josh Gordon

Ladies and Gentlemen, he’s back! The word on the street is that Josh Gordon will be promoted to the Chiefs 53 man roster for their game this week against the Bills. While expectations should probably be tempered, the unknown is just too much to pass up. While you shouldn’t blow your entire FAAB budget on him, it is definitely worth throwing a little more *just in case* we see 2013 Flash Gordon again.

Honorable Mentions:

Tim Patrick (29% Rostered)

Jamison Crowder (5.4% Rostered)

Tight End

Target #1: Dawson Knox

I hope you listen to all of my suggestions, but I really hope you listened to me on Dawson Knox last week. Knox had 5 receptions for 37 yards and 2 touchdowns yesterday, which was the difference in a lot of fantasy matchups. Knox has become one of Josh Allen’s favorite targets and is still rostered in less than half of fantasy leagues.

Target #2: Dalton Schultz

Dalton Schultz has to be on this list. He’s outscored both Amari Cooper and Ceedee Lamb over the last 2 weeks, and it hasn’t been particularly close. Dak has targeted Schultz more than any other Cowboys player the last 2 weeks and Schultz has made the most of these opportunities.

Honorable Mentions:

Austin Hooper (40% Rostered)

Zach Ertz (18.5% Rostered)

Quarterback

Target #1: Sam Darnold

Sam Darnold has moved up from Honorable Mention in week 3 to Target #2 in week 4 and now to Target #1 in week 5. It’s crazy what someone can do when they don’t have Adam Gase as their coach. Darnold looks completely revitalized and currently stands as the QB5 in most fantasy leagues. The best part is is that he is still only rostered in 19% of leagues, go get him!

Target #2: Taylor Heinicke

Moving up from our Honorable Mentions last week, Heinicke may be the surprise of the season. Heinicke has 7 passing touchdowns over the last 3 weeks and is still only rostered in 7.2 % of leagues. Even if you have a top 10 QB, don’t be afraid to stash Heinicke and play him in positive matchups.

Honorable Mentions:

Trey Lance (23.2% Rostered)

Daniel Jones (25.2% Rostered)
