Slate Thoughts:

  • Big news yesterday in the college football world.  Trevor Lawrence was announced to have tested positive for Covid-19.  Needless to say, he will be out this week.  As a result, it paves the way for us to get a good long glimpse at one of the top QB recruits from the last cycle in DJ Uiagalelei.  DJ was the top rated pro-style QB in his class.  His price point on both Draftkings and Fanduel is very hard to ignore, and he will probably be my top cash play at the QB position.  Because of his price point, I do expect he will be very popular.  I do think that Lawrence being out increases Etienne’s opportunities in this offense.
  • One match-up that I really like this week, ,and expect it to be a popular option, is Ole Miss/Vandy.  I talk about my love of Lane Kiffin offenses weekly, and this week will be no different.  Vandy is an absolutely awful football team and will have many challenges stopping or even slowing down this Ole Miss attack.  Matt Corral is a very strong option in this offense, as is his top weapon Elijah Moore.  I believe both of these guys are great plays in all formats.  John Ealy and Snoop Conner are the running back tandem for the Rebels and can also be considered from this Ole Miss offense.  Both of these guys are big plays waiting to happen and both come in at reasonable prices.  I personally lean Conner due to his $4300 price tag.
  • As much as I love this Ole Miss offense, I think they have one of the worst defenses in the conference especially their run defense.  In no way am I saying go out and stack Vandy.  However, a guy I am keeping my eye on is Keyon Henry-Brooks.  Henry-Brooks saw some good run last week vs. South Carolina and racked up 72 yards on 13 carries.  In the event that Marlow is out again this week I think you could definitely consider Henry-Brooks for only $3900.
  • One of the top RB plays of the slate is Breece Hall.  Hall and the Iowa State Cyclones will be facing a Kansas team that really has looked bad in all areas this year.  Kansas allows over 200 rush yards per game this year.  As a result Breece Hall should be poised for a huge day on the ground.
  • One team that I feel is priced to low is Indiana.  Indiana is coming off of an emotional win vs Penn State last week.  My top target from this game is Stevie Scott.  Stevie Scott had a rough outing last week vs. a very tough Penn State defense registering only 57 yards on 20 carries, but he did run for two touchdowns.  This week he will get a matchup with Rutgers, who allowed over 200 yards on the ground to Michigan State.  Scott is a big part of this offense and will average 20-25 rush attempts per game this year.  He is in a smash spot this week and for only $7400 he may be one of my favorite running backs on this slate, only behind Breece Hall.  M. Penix Jr., Philyor and Fryfogle are all decent targets on this slate as well.  Penix Jr. is someone that can be considered in all formats at his low price of $6200.  If you do play Penix Jr I would try and stack him with one of Philyor and Fryfogle.
  • A few players from the Cincy/Memphis game stand out to me, however I am not interested in stacking either team.  Brady White’s price is ridiculous and he will not even be considered as a play for me.  One guy that I am big on this week is Calvin Austin III.  Calvin Austin has received 16 and 14 targets over the last two games without Coxie on the roster.  As a result of Coxie no longer being on the team I expect he continues to see a high volume of targets in this offense.  Austin III is only priced at $5900 and is the go to guy in this high powered Memphis offense.  I like Austin III in all formats.
  • Louisville is one team that I think will go overlooked this week and will make a good team to target in tourneys.  Just last week we witnessed Javian Hawkins brake the slate.   As a result of this he helped lead us at DFS Karma to a very successful weekend.  We have seen that Virginia Tech can be vulnerable on the defensive side of the ball.  My favorite play from Louisville is Hawkins followed closely by Tutu Atwell.  If you play Atwell, I would go ahead and pair him with his QB Malik Cunningham.
