Slate Thoughts:

  • We had a really solid day today over at DFS Karma, looking to keep some good momentum going into tomorrow.  We have already had three games cancelled from this slate, that would have been really good targets for us in fantasy, however, we still have one of the top offenses in the BIG 10 to target.  Indiana has been a big surprise so far this year with the way they are executing on offense, and finding a way to create turnovers on defense.  They will be facing a Maryland team that has looked good on offense, but downright awful on defense.  Penix has turned in a good season thus far, throwing for 1500 yards and 14 touchdowns. Ty Fryfogle has been a direct beneficiary of Penix great play this year. Fryfogle has been Penix top target so far, and has racked up 31 receptions for 642 yards and 7 touchdowns. I love the Indiana stack this weekend, and we get the WR who is second in targets, Whop Philyor, for only 5.2k.
  • There were questions if the Iron bowl was going to be played due to Coach Saban getting diagnosed with Covid, but it appears the game will go on as planned, and the Tide will be led by Coach Sark.  Alabama, like every year, has looked elite offensively being led by Mac Jones, Najee Harris and Davonte Smith.  Davonte Smith’s target share has exploded with Waddle being out for the year.  He is clearly Mac Jones favorite target, and Auburn has no way to slow him down.  I expect to see multiple Jones to Smith TD’s tomorrow.  Najee Harris is priced really high, but has been worth every penny this year.  I don’t know that I will get up to him in cash this week, but there is reason to believe he will have a very good showing, especially knowing that Auburn has allowed nearly 170 rushing yards per game.
  • Taulia Tagovailoa and the Maryland Terps have followed up their embarrassing loss to NW with very convincing wins vs. Penn State and Minnesota.  Indiana is a much better team than either of those, but their defense still a work in progress.  I am reserving my share of Maryland for large field gpps.  I think Maryland has the offensive scheme and talent to put up good numbers on this Indiana defense, but Indiana does create pressure, and a young QB like Taulia will be prone to making mistakes.  We watched them pressure Fields into multiple mistakes last week, so it will be interesting to see how Taulia handles it.  One aspect of Ohio States offense that worked really well last week, was their rushing game.  They ran all ove this Indiana defense, which makes me thinking that Funk may be a solid gpp play this week.  Funk has accumulated 336 yards and 2 touchdowns through three games this year.  If looking to stack Maryland I would probably go with Taulia/Demus/Jarrett.
  • Finally, we have to discuss the Egg Bowl.  Ole Miss and Mississippi State should be a very interesting/exciting game.  I expect us to see Ole Miss continue doing what they have done all year long; throw for a ton of yards and put up a lot of points.  Mississippi State is expected to be thin again this week, only expecting to have 46 scholarship players dressed to play this week due to others being on the Covid list.  They are extremely thin in the secondary, as we watched JT Daniels and the Bulldogs torch them for over 400 yards.  Now they have to slow down Corral/Moore and the rest of this Ole Miss offense?  Yeah, good luck.  Corral is 10k on DK, but he legit has a 50 point ceiling in this matchup.
  • On the other side of the Egg Bowl we have Will Rogers leading this Mike Leach Air Raid offense, and actually doing a good job of it.  He looked extremely good and accurate last week vs. Georgia, and now will face a defense that is nowhere close to the same level of talent as Georgia.  Now, for most of the season Miss St. have been putrid on offense, but Rogers is showing the patience necessary to be successful in this offense.  Most defenses are employing the rush 3 drop 8 defense which requires a quarterback in this system to show patience and wait for his receivers to find the open spots in the zone.  Rogers did that really well vs. Georgia.  Mississippi State will obviously need to score a ton of points to stay in this game, and I think in large field gpps they are worth a shot.  They will be extremely low owned and obviously they may resort back to being absolutely lost and awful on offense, but on the off chance they have finally turned the corner, Ill take that low ownership and high ceiling they all present.  Roll with a Rogers/Mitchell/Walley.
