Top Value Plays

Quarterback

  • KJ Costello (MSST):  FD 8,000  DK 5,900 :  Mike Leach is now the head coach at Mississippi State, and has brought his air raid offense with him.  KJ Costello will be running the ship for him, and is way under priced on both sites.  In Mike Leach’s offense, quarterbacks have always been fantasy gold for us.  I think that KJ Costello in this system should easily be able to pay off his price tag.  If we get news in the morning that Costello is not going to be the guy we will make a pivot.
  • Jeff Sims (GT):  DK 6,300:  Another week that we get Jeff Sims at a discount.  Sims is a true freshman, 4 star quarterback who has had a very solid start to his college career.  He is a dual threat quarterback, who has proven that he is more than willing to pull the ball down and run whenever he gets an opening.  GT will be facing a poor Syracuse defense this week, and is a very solid play at his price.  I think you can even play him in cash due to his solid floor he has with his rushing ability.

Running Back

  • Malik Davis (UF):  FD 7,500  DK 4,200:  Malik Davis is a redshirt junior for the University of Florida.  During his freshman season he was headed towards producing huge numbers before an injury cut his season short.  He was averaging 6.7 ypc as a true freshman in the SEC.  Davis is an extremely talented and explosive back, and is capable of making big plays.  He should be sharing touches with Dameon Pierce, but there are plenty of touches to go around for two backs.  With Davis’s big play ability, at 4,200 on DK he makes for a really good value play in tournaments.
  • Roschon Johnson (UT):  FD 7,800  DK 5,700:  Johnson surprisingly got the start over Ingram in Texas’s last game, and looks like he will again this week.  Texas Tech is a very bad defensive team, and Texas should have no problem running or throwing on them.  Johnson is a much better value play on FD than he is on DK, but if he continues to see the majority of the touches in the backfield, he will easily hit value.
  • Shaun Shivers (AUB): FD 8,200  DK 4,400: Shivers was named the starting running back for the Auburn Tigers this week.  He has a matchup vs an underrated Kentucky defense, but is near minimum price on DK.  It is rare to get starting running backs on teams that are favored for the price that Shivers is listed at.  Shivers is a really good value play on this slate, and if he gets over 15 carries he should easily hit value, if not exceed it.

Wide Receiver

  • Austin Williams (MSST) FD 6900  DK3,300/ JaVonta Payton (MSST) FD 6,200  DK 4,000:  Both of these receivers will be starting in the slot positions for Mike Leaches air raid offense.  In this offense there are typically two slot receivers on the field at a time.  For near minimum price on both sites they are extremely good value plays.  They should both see targets in this up-tempo, pass happy offense.  Austin Williams is better value on DK, while JaVonta Payton is better value on FD.  I would not mind playing one of the two in cash games, but I definitely will have a share of them in tournaments.
  • Brenden Schooler (TEX):  FD 6,300  DK 3,800:  Schooler seems to be getting the nod in the slot position again this week with Jake Smith expected to be unavailable again.  Schoolers price is near minimum on both sites, which makes him a very solid value play on this slate.  As long as Smith is out Schooler should be seeing extended action, and you will want to take advantage of these low prices while we have them.
