Last Week Punt Plays Recap

2020 Waste Management Phoenix Open

This event is played at TPC Scottsdale’s Stadium Course as a Par 71. It features Bermuda greens with a course length of 7,260 yards.

Recent Form

Adam Hadwin is typically in play for me every time he sinks into Punt Play range. It also helps that he ranks 5th overall in my model with great numbers across the board.

Zach Johnson is the same thing. If he slips into Punt Play range, and his numbers align, he is in play. 11th overall in my model. Zachy and Haddy should be a wee bit chalky this week.

Brian Gay’s lack of OTT and BS power are concerning. However he loves Bermuda greens, recently anyway.

J.J. Spaun makes it back for his 2nd consecutive Punt Plays article. As you see in the recap above, he finished 30th place. Nothing jumps out as alarming this week so I think he is worth a shot or two at $6400.

Russell Henley doesn’t have GREAT numbers, but they also aren’t complete trash. His recent form favors Bermuda greens.

Tournament History

Did I mention he will be chalky? 5 straight makes for ZJ with 3 of them being Top 14 finishes.

JJ finished 4th, decided to peace out in 2018, then made the cut and did nothing with it last year.

Did I mention he will also be chalky? 4 straight makes with 2 Top 17 finishes for Hadwin.

If you are a believer in patters, Henley will miss the cut this year. However if he doesn’t he will finish Top 16 again. CHOOSE WISELY.

Brian Gay has 4 straight makes with a 9th finish in 2018. At only $6700, I like his chance to hit value this week.
