Trevis’ PGA Punt Plays – 2019 WGC Mexico

Bet on MyBookie

For those of you new to the plethora of content DFSKarma.com puts out on a daily/weekly basis, this is my weekly PGA article that focuses on the cheapos no one else dare write about. It had massive success last year with my getting sub $7K (DK) golfers finishing top 10 at less than 1% ownership on an almost weekly basis. Well, I’m bringing it back this year with the same concept. My cap this year is $7300 in DraftKings pricing (but you can still play them on FanDuel, FantasyDraft, or Yahoo). I focus on recent form and course history heavily to spit out my favorite 5 golfers from within that range.

2019 WGC Mexico Championship

We travel this week to the Club De Golf Chapultepec in Mexico City, Mexico. This course will play as a Par 71 at 7345 and has Poa Annua greens. This is also a NO CUT event. So don’t go crazy with that bankroll.

Tyrrell Hatton – $7300 DK | $9200 FD

T-Hat has two top 10 finishes here in last two years. He finished a Punt Play best 3rd place here last year. Hatton clocks in at 5th overall in total strokes gained with SIX stats ranking in the top 15. As afraid as I am to use this term, with Hoffman’s epic fail and first missed cut in over 5 YEARS last week, Hatton is my Punt Play of the Week.

Lee Westwood – $7100 DK | $8700 FD

A name I never thought I’d write up for the rest of times, Lee West has competed in this event 3 times in the last 5 years with finishes ranging from 34th to 12th. He did not play here last season. Lee is 16th overall in total strokes gained. He has 5 stats ranking in the top 25. His worst stat is 32nd (P), so he is solid all around…recently anyway.

Shubhankar Sharma – $6800 DK | $8100 FD

Schwarma appearance here last year was his only one in the last half decade. However, he made his appearance known with a solid 9th place finish. Sharma clocks in at 17th overall in total strokes gained. ALL of his stats are in the top 28. Every. Single. One. In a no cut event, Punts like these are most definitely worth a shot.

Branden Grace – $6800 DK | $9300 FD

Grace has made the cut here each of the last 5 years!!! (I’ll show myself out…) He is the only Punt Play to have competed in this event in each of the last 5 years with finishes randing from 54th (2015) to 23rd (2016). Even though Grace is the lowest Punt clocking in at 29th overall in total strokes gained, all of his stats rank in the top 37.

Kiradech Aphibarnrat – $6700 DK | $8200 FD

Barnrat makes his second appearance in my weekly piece this season. Only 3 appearances in last 5 years, but in his last one here last year, he finished 5th place. He comes in at 14th overall in total strokes gained. Like the other Punts, he doesn’t have a single recency stat that sucks with all of them coming in at 29th or better.
