NHL Value Vault 10/14/19

Hey Karma Nation~

Mondays can be a rough day to navigate, but we’ve got you covered. Today is Thanksgiving in Canada and the NHL schedule reflects that with 5 games starting at 1:00 Eastern. With just two more games scheduled later on, the main game sets get started EARLY today so check your favorite site pronto!

Here are some value plays to fill in your lineups:

Offense:

  • Frank Vatrano FLA ($4500-DK, $3300-FD) Has seen a lift in ice time since being promoted to the Panthers top line with Barkov and Hoffman. He has taken 10 shots in four games and gets to face the Devil’s 26th ranked defense today. It won’t take much to pay off his price tag, especially on Fanduel at just $3300.
  •  Jakub Vrana WAS ($4100-DK, $4500-FD) Top six and 2nd power play unit skater for the Caps, he is coming off his best game in Dallas on Saturday. Vrana took two shots and had a power-play assist in that game. I like Washington’s 2nd line today with the Avalanche devoting their top line defensive pairing to slowing down Ovechkin/Caps #1 line.
  •  Anthony Duclair OTT ($3800-DK, $3800-FD) Sens have a home date with the Wild and everybody seems to be scoring on Minnesota right now. Duclair fits easily in any lineup at this price and has taken 12 shots in four games. I also like that he gets top power-play time in one of the higher projected game totals on the slate.

Defense:

  • Rasmus Ristolainen BUF ($5000-DK, $4400-FD) I try to stay away from any players 5k or higher, but … we may have to spend a bit more on defense today. Risto likes to shoot, having launched 16 shots in five games. He get’s power-play time and I like the Sabre’s to take advantage of the Star’s 21st ranked defense in this one.
  •  Adam Pelech NYI ($4300-DK, $3700-FD) Has been the most active defenseman for the Iles so far with 13 shots and 17 blocked shots through 5 games. Even if he doesn’t hit the score sheet, Pelech pays off his low price as he has been averaging double-digit fantasy points on both sites.

Goaltending:

  • Phillip Grubauer COL ($7200-DK, $8200-FD) Has played better that any other netminder on the schedule today with the exception of Rask, who commands the highest price on both sites. Grubauer is 3-0 with a .931 save % and is sure to steer away plenty of shots with the high shot volume he’ll face against the Capitals. Don’t be surprised if he sneaks out of Washington with a win today.

Happy Thanksgiving to all our Canadian friends, only five more weeks until we celebrate here in America. Here’s hoping we all cash in on our NHL lineups!
