NHL Value Vault 11/02/19

What’s up Karma Nation-

We have a huge slate with 28 teams in action tonight. Let’s focus on the PM game set that includes 24 of those teams. I’m going to include some lines that have a good chance to produce tonight, but even though they’re not listed, BOS 1, VAN 2, and VGK 1 & 2 are great plays if you are spending up.

-Insights and player picks for tonight’s 12 game schedule-

  1. Teams with greatest chance to win: BOS, FLA, VGK, CAR
  2. Highest implied totals: TOR@PHI, DET@FLA, VAN@SJ, WPG@VGK
  3. Lowest implied totals: NYI@BUF, MON@DAL
  4. Lines to target: FLA 1, CAR 2, PHI 1

Offense:

  • Ilya Kovalchuk LA ($3500-DK, $4600-FD) Was bottled up by Vancouver last time out, and subsequently had a price drop for us to take advantage of. Kovalchuk always seems to bounce back after a quiet performance, and is skating at home versus Chicago’s 28th ranked defense. Take note of his price now as I think he will be skating with the King’s top line soon enough.
  • Sammy Blais STL ($3100-DK, $4100-FD) Top line skater who at this price should be popular, but some might shy away because he got banged up and only logged 12 mins. against Columbus last night. Blais has no injury designation, and faces the 31st ranked Wild defense who he scored a goal on three days ago.
  • Jordan Staal CAR ($3400-DK only) There are better choices on FD where Staal is $1700 higher, but tonight presents a prime match up with the Devils who are just plain struggling. Staal is on both the Canes top scoring line and PP unit. He gets to face New Jersey, who has let in 16 goals in their last three games, prompting a trade with Tampa Bay yesterday for goalie depth.

Others to consider: Joel Farabee PHI ($3000-DK, $3500-FD)                                                   Cody Glass VGK ($3500-DK, $4600-FD)

Defense:

  • Christopher Tanev VAN ($3500-both sites) Some teams are just great at blocking shots. Vancouver has the top two  shot blockers in the NHL with Tanev and Edler. You really have to spend up to get Edler, but I’ll take Tanev and his 37 blocks through 13 games for this tiny price tag.
  • Colin Miller BUF ($3300-DK, $3700-FD) Really does a little bit of everything for the Sabres. Included are logging nearly 20 mins. of ice time per night and directing the 2nd unit power play. He’ll face the Islanders at home and is due to hit the score sheet.

Also consider: Joe Hicketts DET ($2900-DK, $3500-FD)

Goaltenders: (Please check closer to lock as the following were probable but not confirmed to start when article was published.)

  • Darcy Kuemper ARI ($7700-DK only) Is at home, has only given up three or more goals once in eight starts, and is facing a depleted Colorado team due to injuries.
  • Thatcher Demko VAN ($7900-FD only) Figures to get the start in the second game of a B2B for the Canucks. Has been great in all four of his starts with a 1.75 GAA and .941 SV%.

Enjoy the wealth of pucks and hopefully a wealth of green from your successful lineup builds!
