Ricky’s StableDuel Strategy – Tampa Bay Downs 1/15/22

Hello and it’s great to be back! Karma and StableDuel have partnered up once again and we are providing cores, picks and pods! This Saturday, StableDuel brings their biggest contest to Tampa Bay Downs! Bash At The Bay is a $30,000 contest with $10,000 going to the winner for just $50 per entry!

Caleb and I have already recorded a podcast which is available for your viewing pleasure on YouTube. That is an in-depth, race-by-race analysis of the full card at Tampa on Saturday. Here, I’d like to give a few options based on price tiers.

If you need a refresher on scoring, please refer back to our debut article that goes a little more in-depth, located here.

High Price Favorites

Kuramata $9,000 – Race 8
Race 8 looks to go through Chad Brown and Kuramata. After back to back wins, this horse took a big step up to try his had in a grade 2 race. After a discouraging try there, connections slotted him in this seemingly easy spot to get back on track. While I’ll be rooting for Shirls Speight (see the pod for insight) in this race, there’s little doubt that Kuramata completes the exacta at the very least.

Mid Price Plays

Thru The Vine $5,000 – Race 3
Admittedly, race 3 is very tough. I can make a case for just about any horse here, but I like the price on Thru The Vine. This horse won his maiden here and at this distance, but his connections made the puzzling move to fool around on the turf and synthetic surfaces. Getting back to the dirt, with absolutely no speed signed on in this race, I am hoping Thru The Vine can give us positive points.

Value Plays

Kissmelips $750 – Race 4
This is my favorite play of the day and I would be thrilled to get anything over 8/1 on this horse. While this horse only has 2 wins, both of those wins came on a turf course where she was setting the pace. In the race on Saturday, Kissmelips is projected to be the pace horse and lone speed. As long as no one else gets brave, I absolutely love this horse to at least get points on StableDuel, if not win straight up.
