UFC 209 Bets
Tonya Evinger (+140)
We know Aspen Ladd is a great prospect, but we simply don’t know how high of a level she’s at in this moment. Tonya Evinger has only lost to high-level competition since 2007 – Alexis Davis (2), Sara McMann, and Cyborg. Since returning to Bantamweight in 2013, Evinger is 7-0 in that division, while winning and defending the Invicta FC title on multiple occasions. Ladd has a few good wins on her record, but she hasn’t fought the same level of competition as Evinger. I don’t doubt Ladd’s potential, but these odds are too wide for someone that has proven time and time again that she can beat some of the highest level fighters in the world.
Bet 1 unit on Evinger to win 1.4 units
Khabib Nurmagomedov (-145)
It feels wrong to bet against Conor McGregor, especially after he has had two years to fine-tune his MMA skills, assuming he has been training on an even semi-regular basis. Still, Khabib Nurmagomedov is another breed of human being. He’s a two-time Combat Sambo World Champion, while boasting an undefeated MMA record. Nurmagomedov has also toyed with high-level fighters, including Al Iaquinta and Edson Barboza. Most importantly, his relentless aggression in fights has proven that he has more than enough cardio to go five full rounds at his highest level. McGregor simply has not displayed that cardio, and he has never fought anyone with the grappling pressure of Nurmagomedov. McGregor has the striking to end this fight at any time, assuming he can withstand the pressure of Nurmagomedov. I don’t believe he will be able to.
Bet 3 units on Nurmagomedov to win 2.1 units
Ovince Saint Preux (+175)
Dominick Reyes is finally going to prove whether or not he belongs in the top of the light heavyweight division. Despite being fairly new to professional fighting, Reyes has racked up quite a few impressive victories to work his way into the top 15, but even Reyes’s biggest fans would have to be hesitant to deny that his upcoming fight against Ovince Saint Preux is a huge step up in competition. Jared Cannonier is a great striker, and Jeremy Kimball has some talent, but OSP is on another level. He is a very patient fighter that will not get into a fire fight with Reyes. His striking is likely not as impressive as that of Reyes, but OSP has a reach advantage, and he will work behind that. He seems to find his way around to the finish late in fights, so the longer this fight goes, the better for OSP. He recently caught Tyson Pedro in a submission, putting an end to his hype train. Will he end two hype trains in a row? For the odds, it is worth betting on it.
Bet 1 units on Saint Preux to win 1.75 units
