Dave’s Drivers to Watch for Draftkings – Nascar DFS – Busch Clash

The time has finally come and the cars have hit the track. I’m happy to have anyone back who was here last year and read any of my articles and used them towards success in Nascar DFS. Looking ahead at the season, I’m hoping to talk strategy, track dynamics and history and drivers to help improve your game play even more. My articles this season will be more Draftkings centric but if you have any questions about drivers or strategy on other sites or props always feel free to message me on Twitter or ask me questions in our Nascar Discord. This weekend begins with a fun race with lots of history. Busch is back to sponsor what for years used to be known as the Busch Clash. This race consists of pole winners, playoff drivers and former winners of the Clash. They are only racing for the money this week as it is a non points race so the intensity and aggressive driving will be higher this week. It is a smaller field so my play won’t be as heavy as next week when we have a huge edge going into the Daytona 500. However I think there is still some strategic advantages to this weekends race and plan on going over them along with a few driver options to look at to consider in cash games and gpps. As we look at the past few races here for the Clash we see that the winner hasn’t started higher then 9th place. Now if you were around last year that goes along with what we know about superspeedway races.

  • Limit your exposure to the top 5 in this race with only 18 participants. Next week, exposure to the top 10 will be limited.
  • Focus on high floor drivers (drivers starting near the back) This will limit the pain to your lineup if and when accidents happen and they will.
  • Don’t worry about salary, at superspeedways you will be leaving money on the table, even more next week

Those are your basic rules to live by at any superspeedway race this season. I should also include don’t hover over your phone or computer during these races. The amount of passing and drivers moving from front to back to front again is insane and know that it will constantly be changing. Play a safe floor strategy and you will come out alive in the end 9/10 times. As for a couple drivers to look for in the Clash, I’ll give you 3 since the field is much smaller in the Clash and you should be able to pick them out just reading this article.

Denny Hamlin

Denny starts 18th, which in this field is last. He has the safest floor and should be the highest owned driver in the Clash. He has done very well at Daytona winning the Clash 3 times and won the Daytona 500 last season. Place differential is so important here at Daytona he has the most upside available in the field.

Kurt Busch

Kurt starts 17th and just like Hamlin provides a safe floor in the Clash. Kurt won the Daytona 500 back in 2017 but hasn’t done well here since then. I’ll look past that in this race with only 18 cars in the field and the security that Kurt provides. He will be popular as well and if you are playing large field gpps you could use his past history here as a reason to limit exposure but DO NOT FADE HIM!

Jimmie Johnson

If you are a person who believes in narratives then here is one for you. This will be Jimmie’s last Busch Clash. This is his final season competing in Cup full time and this probably won’t be a track that he comes back to compete on. He won this race last season, of course he caused a wreck that took out half the field but that is beside the point. He starts 16th and is another option that provides safety in the place differential department well giving you the upside of a top 5 finish and those precious place differential points.

Make sure to come back next week for the Daytona 500 and if you haven’t already. we have a package available for Nascar Core Plays which gets you my cores to Cup, Xfinity and Truck along with access to the Nascar Discord. Hope everyone enjoys that Busch Clash tomorrow and ends it seeing green! You can find me on twitter @davidjr831 if you have any questions.
