Dave’s Drivers to Watch – STP 500 – NASCAR DFS

This week we are at Martinsville Speedway. I contemplated writing this article last night, however this week presents a scenario where as I am writing this we still don’t have an official starting lineup. This is an impound race and the post qualifying tech takes place on Sunday morning starting at 8. If a car fails, they lose their starting spot and go to the back. This is important to us because they will be scored from the back and not the spot they qualified. It can turn a driver we weren’t looking at into the chalk play. Anyways, at Martinsville we are going to have multiple dominators. Dominators are more important on Draftkings then Fanduel, but we do get points for laps led on Fanduel so its important to find a guy or two that will lead laps. There are a potential of 375 dominator points on Draftkings available here. Hitting on those dominators is the key to victory for us this weekend.

Joey Logano (FD $14,000 DK $11,300)

Joey starts from the pole this weekend. He’s one of the first potential dominators to look at. In the fall race, Joey led over 300 laps. Starting on the pole he selects where he starts, bottom or top row. This will give him the advantage to get ahead of Almirola and possibly lead a portion of the first stage. He also gets the first pit stall and has an outstanding pit crew which should keep him up front which is important for track position since its so hard to pass at Martinsville.

Kyle Busch (FD $14,900 DK $13,000)

As I write this, Kyle still hasn’t gone through tech. However no matter what happens Kyle is a great play once again. He dominated the truck race yesterday. He starts 13th at this moment and gives us place differential upside and has a great possibility of being a dominator as well. Fitting Kyle into your lineups will be the most difficult part because he is the most expensive driver on both site. He has 7 top 5’s in his last 7 races here. I suggest getting him into your lineups as much as you can.

Martin Truex Jr (FD $13,500 DK $11,900)

If you aren’t playing Kyle in cash then the pivot is here. He offers some salary relief and opens the door to different drivers in your build. He has led all of the important practice speeds we consider in fantasy, 10,20, 30 lap averages. Take that into consideration along with the fact that along with the fact that he has finished top 7 four of the last five races here. Like the past couple weeks, Truex seems to have long run speed which is great here in Martinsville and could dominate at some point in this race

Clint Bowyer (FD $11,700 DK $8,400)

Clint Bowyer won here in last years spring race. He has speed all weekend long and starts 11th. His price on Draftkings is way too low for Bowyers track history here. Depending how tech plays out he will be one of the chalkier plays today and a great cash game option. He can also be one of those dominators we look for here and we get him for cheap. Bowyer was another one of those drivers that has been on top of the speed charts this weekend.

Austin Dillon (FD $7,700 DK $7,300)

Austin Dillon will be a cash game staple and probably one of the highest owned drivers this weekend. He starts 29th as of right now. Both him and his teammate had the speed in practice. However Austin never qualifies great here. He offers us a safe floor and gives us the possibility of place differential as well. Austin is one of the more aggressive drivers in the field so on a track where its hard to pass, i would bet on him getting himself up to a top 15 finish.

William Byron (FD $7,000 DK $6,900)

This is one driver who up til about 30 minutes ago I was on full fade mode. However welcome to Sunday morning tech failures. Byron failed tech and instead of starting 6th, he will start from the back and will be scored from the starting position which as of this moment is 36th. That could change a little if a couple more fail. However, Byron offers us a safe floor starting and being scored from the back. This is really the only reason to play him this weekend

Value Plays- You will need at least 1-2 value drivers to fill out your lineups on Draftkings. Remember we need dominators but they cost a lot so these guys will help finish up your lineup.
