Bundesliga Breakdown 5/26 – Ram’s Reasons

Are you ready for some midweek Bundesliga action?!
Two heavyweights battle it out in a showdown only due to it being 2 hours prior to the other 3 games. I will briefly preview that since it has some big prize pools too but main focus will be on the 3 game slate. Players bolded are my favorite plays.
Showdown
2:30pm EST BVB-Bayern Munich (Bayern -115 favorites)
This game is going to have goals- over 4 goals in 4 of the last 5 games. But interestingly enough… 4/5 have been shutouts for one side. Home team has won each time… but we’ve been seeing the away teams win more often than normal since home field advantage has been neutralized without crowds… and Dortmund have THE BEST CROWD.
Captain choices:
High Priced:
  • Lewandwoski– priciest but he scores goals… is on PK duty and loves the big moment
  • Muller– red hot, huge assist numbers this year
  • Gnabry- risky, but he’s rested and is electric when on
  • Sancho- thought he’d be up for this huge game but still not 100 percent and might not start
  • Haaland- kid scores in bunches but also can be a ghost… see Saturday.
Mid Priced:
  • Hazard– great form, has the upside if we see sancho doesn’t start again.
  • Kimmich– still priced low for having sets, cross machine.
  • Guerriero– red red hot 3 goals in last 2 but that isn’t sustainable
  • Brandt- if he starts up front again, he’s in play
  • Perisic- should start again for Thiago and can do it all but just so many weapons he doesn’t push forward as much on Bayern as previous teams.
Cheapies:
  • None, you need the goals and assists.
Value Plays:
  • Neuer- risky but BVB aren’t firing on all cylinders, Bayern defense was a little shaky on Saturday though
  • Pavard– like attacking fullbacks and he can whip it in with the best.
  • Reyna- probably won’t start but just in case he’s great value at his price.
  • Piszczek- only Dortmund defender I’d play since their wing backs are midfielders and priced as such.
  • Boateng- pure value, doesn’t do a ton but can help fit other pieces.
  • Hummels- same price as boateng, if you are going BVB and need cheap exposure… but not for me
Main Slate
Leverkusen(-140) vs Wolfsburg
Frankfurt (even) vs Freiburg
Bremen vs Borussia M’gladbach (-135)
Forwards:
High Priced:
  • Bailey- highest priced and hasn’t started in last 3 games but midweek could be the time. Pure GPP but huge upside.
  • M’Gladbach Forwards- I rank them Pléa, Thuram, Herrmann, Stindl. With Embolo doubtful, Stindl probably starts but Thuram is in better form and cheaper. They are all more GPP for me as there is no “guy” here, kind of forward by committee.
Mid Priced:
  • Grifo– Cash/GPP, consistent. Double digits in 5/6, has some sets split with Gunter.
  • Diaby- GPP, lots of mouths to feed here but they rack up fantasy points and are in good matchup.
  • Rashica- GPP, has crash and burned twice in a row… he will turn it around and maybe this is the game?
  • Silva– Cash/GPP, great matchup, should have good goal odds
  • Dost- GPP, has best scoring odds at -160 but if he doesn’t score he lays a big goose egg.
Cheapies:
  • Steffen- GPP, he’s Wolfsburgs guy. 12 shots last 5, 5 of those on goal and 3 scored.
  • Holer– Cash/GPP, was popular Saturday and almost scored double figures for 4900, only 5100 now in good matchup.
  • Petersen- GPP, was another popular play Saturday that just didn’t pan out… 5.2 fpts at 5k, now he’s 4900 in another good matchup.
Midfielders:
High Priced:
  • Kostic- GPP, most expensive player on the slate, was on absolute fire earlier in the season but has failed to hit double figures in last 3 and 4/5. I don’t see him fitting into my builds
  • Haivertz– Cash/GPP, absolute stud. Back to back braces and over 30 DK points. Tough matchup vs a Wolfsburg defense that just shut out Haaland but I still love him Tuesday.
  • Demirbay– Cash/GPP, assist in each of last two and a goal. 20+ DK points in those games, Leverkusen is firing on all cylinders.
  • Bellarabi- GPP, assist in 3 straight, with a goal too. Only 12 and 11 DK points last two though even with the assists.
  • Hofmann- GPP, struggled in tougher matchup but put up 17 in a similar matchup to Tuesday. He takes most set pieces for gladbach too.
Mid Priced:
  • Bittencourt– Cash/GPP, loved him Saturday and he scored. He has 18 DK points in back to back games. Only rose $200 and has a matchup with a team that hasn’t kept a CS in 12 straight games… 12!
  • Arnold- GPP, he’s solid and produces peripherals but very tough matchup.
  • Neuhaus– Cash/GPP, great matchup for him, he hasn’t hit ceiling in a while, but takes shots and Bremen give up a bunch.
  • Schmid– Cash/GPP, went to him Saturday and he produced with almost 14 points, price rose $500, but still in play for good matchup.
Cheapies:
  • Klaassen- GPP, my value pick Saturday came through with 12.9 DK points. Tougher matchup but they should need to push forward more Tuesday.
  • Rode– cash/GPP, he has 3 assists in last 2 games… got to love that from a cheap guy in a good spot.
  • Hofler- GPP, hit 9.8 last game vs Bremen. Still good matchup, and only 3600.
Defenders:
High Priced:
  • Gunter– Cash/GPP, 16 crosses last game… has majority of sets, Shoots a bit too.
  • Bensebaini- Cash/GPP, probably don’t have cash for two high priced defenders, but he’s involved in attack and has peripherals in favored side.
  • Toure- GPP, 12.8 vs Bayern, 9.7 vs gladbach… now he gets a good matchup. 13 crosses in last 2 tough matches.
  • Otavio- GPP, double digits every start (4) but vs Leverkusen so CS is not likely.
  • Mbabu- GPP, double digits in last 3/4… only dip was 7.3 vs BVB. Same matchup as otavio though.
Mid Priced:
  • Augustinsson– Cash/GPP, the Swedish sensation returns! He’s a lock for me… has never seen a cross he didn’t like to try. I know it’s Bremen but he will instantly make them a little more dangerous in attack.
  • Hinteregger- GPP, he scored 3 last game… 2 for the good, 1 into his own net… he’s huge and is deadly in the air on set pieces. Little pricey for his floor though. Last game was definitely a ceiling one.
  • Lainer- Cash, he’s solid. Nothing flashy but can put up double digits if he gets a CS.
Cheapies:
  • Gulde- GPP, he scored last week again but it was VAR overturned.
  • Lang- GPP, should start for injured Friedl. Fullback should get forward a bit in Bremen style.
  • Koch– punt cash, he doesn’t do anything big but gets points every week, won’t hurt you and could get 7-8 for 2900. He averages 2 shots on goal last 5 games…. as a centerback.
Goalkeepers:
  • Hradecky– Cash, he was great last week vs a similar squad. Same upside possible.
  • Sommer- Cash/GPP, I’d rather pay 200 more for Hradecky but great matchup and good leverage.
  • Schwolow– GPP, yes he floundered last week in a great matchup but he didn’t see the shots I thought… same thought this week, could get 4-5 saves.
  • Pavlenka- GPP, he was the slate buster last week putting up 24.4 DK points but before that he had 6 straight games below 5 points and 3 of those were negative.
I’ll be in discord chat right after lineups release for both slates! Good luck all!
