NHL Value Vault 10/19/19

Hey Karma Nation,

By popular demand, the Value Vault’s focus going forward will be to find you the best “punt” options to fill in your lineup holes. Please remind me if I ever suggest a player higher that 4K on DraftKings or 5K on Fanduel. This is your article, DFS Karma hockey nation, so any suggestions are welcome.

Here are my picks for tonight’s nine game docket:

Offense:

  • **Calle Jarnkrok** NSH ($3300-FD, $3600-FD) WAY TOO cheap for a top-line winger and power play anchor who is at home facing the Panther’s 24th ranked defense. Get him in your lineups.
  • Conner Sheary BUF ($3800-DK, $4500-FD) Is now healthy after his four-game absence, and is averaging a point per contest through four games. He sees time on the Sabre’s 2nd-unit power play as well.
  • Jared McCann PIT ($3900-DK, $4100-FD) Centers the Pens second scoring line and power play, McCann returned from injury last night with a goal on three shots and blocked three shots to boot.

Others to consider: Joonas Donskoi COL ($3100-DK, $3300-FD)                                           Joe Thornton SJ ($3100-DK, $4400-FD)

Defense:

  • Matt Niskanen PHI ($3300-DK, $4000-FD) Is in the top pairing and on the second power play unit for the Flyers and has a point in three of his last four games. Plus, Dallas ranks 26th defensively against opposing blueliners.
  • Markus Nutivaara ($2900-DK, $3500-FD) His salary is tiny! He has found the back of the goal twice on nine shots while averaging almost 18 minutes of ice time in his last three games. Add in the nine shots he’s blocked in his last five games if you need more convincing.

Other to consider: Alex Goligoski ARI ($3700-DK, $4000-FD)

Goaltenders:

  •  Jaroslav Halak ($7600-DK only) He’s making his 4th start and has a sparking 1.69 GAA and .951 SV% thus far. He gets to face Toronto without one of their best weapons in captain John Tavares.
  • Antti Raanta ($7500-FD only) Stopped 29 of 32 against the Avalanche in his only other start this season. This is all about the match up for me. Raanta is at home versus a struggling Ottawa team with a 1-4-1 record.

Let’s get after it tonight–enjoy the NHL action and I hope you cash in!
