Spikes Core Plays (1-9-22)

Happy Sunday everyone! As it is the last day of the regular season for NFL, NBA is just beginning!  We have a solid eight game slate ahead of us.  There are some pretty obvious plays as well as some more unique plays to make your line a little contrarian as well.

Guards

Cash

As long as Ja Morant doesn’t play, Tyus Jones is a very solid option for tonight. The matchup is fantastic against a Lakers team that doesn’t defend well against guards.  Tyus should also be locked into 25-30 minutes. Nickeil Alexander Walker gets a decent matchup and should see an uptick of minutes with Josh Hart inactive, he also makes for a solid cash game option. Lebron James, Jalen Brunson (if Luka Doncic is out), and De’Anthony Melton are all good options as well.

GPP

For tournaments, Brandon Ingram has started to get this going offensively.  With Josh Hart out, he should also see an uptick in minutes and usage.  I expect him to go lower owned with other options around him being more popular.  Anfernee Simons price keeps going up as he is now 6500. That being said, he makes for a great option tonight.  Portland is dealing with a lot of injuries right now and if his shot is falling he has the ability to drop 50 FP. Fred Van Vleet, Shai Gilgeous Alexander, and Malik Monk are all viable options here as well.

Forwards

Cash

Harrison Barnes hasn’t been playing great lately. That being said, he is getting far to cheap for his upside. For 5400, I’m more than willing to play him in cash with his minutes being solidified.  Brandon Clarke is in line for a larger role given that Steven Adams is in protocols. At 4700, he is nearly a lock for the minutes he should be playing. Jaren Jackson, Maxi Kleber, and Garrett Temple can all be used here.

GPP

Herbert Jones makes for an interesting option tonight.  Gets a solid matchup against Toronto and if his shot is falling, he comes with massive upside. He can also add great peripheral stats too.  Draymond Green makes for a good option tonight and should come in nearly unowned.  With Klay Thompson coming back, I don’t think anyone will be targeting this team.  Green continues to be a defensive monster and even with Klay back, I don’t see that changing. Demar Derozan, Kyle Kuzma, and Scottie Barnes are all good plays here as well.

Centers

Cash

Jusuf Nurkic is probably making all of my lineups tonight.  He gets an elite matchup against the Kings tonight who just can’t guard anyone for the life of them. His peripheral stats are great and has the ability to score at a very fast rate. I can never fade Nikola Jokic as he is one of the best players in the NBA. He gets a great matchup against the Thunder who have nobody who can guard him. Bottom line is, this man should feast tonight against a poor team. Karl Anthony Towns and Christian Wood are great options here as well.

GPP

Nikola Vucevic gets a solid matchup against the Mavericks.  They simply do not have anyone who will be able to stop him.  He can also shoot the three ball which just adds to his upside. Robert Covington should see an uptick in minutes with Larry Nance continuing to be sidelined with an injury.  He makes for a great cheaper play to get a piece of this offense. Pascal Siakam, Jonas Valanciunas, and Jarret Allen are all viable options here.

Hope everyone sees some green tonight! Good Luck!
