Total Base Race – Boston Red Sox/Colorado Rockies

The Boston Red Sox get an elite matchup against Rico Garcia, who has struggled through 12 starts in Triple-A this season. In those starts, he has struggled with a 6.23 xFIP. He has also given up 38.9% fly ball and 18.1% HR/FB rates in the MiLB this season. While there aren’t any advanced metrics on Garcia in the MLB, there’s very little reason to believe he’ll find success against one of the best offenses in the MLB in the most hitter friendly stadium in the league. Mookie Betts has been playing well recently, posting a .333 average with a .643 slugging percentage and a 1.018 OPS over his last 10 games. He owns 10 extra-base hits (1 home run) over that span, as well. Betts also possesses 56% hard hit and fly ball rates with a 98 MPH exit velocity over the last 15 days. He brings 0.043 wOBA and 0.072 ISO differentials against right-handed pitching into this game, as well. Rafael Devers has also been at his best against right-handed pitching, posting 0.084 wOBA and 0.071 ISO differentials against righties. He has also been playing at an elite level recently, recording a .422 average with a .822 slugging percentage and a 1.281 OPS over his last 10 games. He boasts 12 extra-base hits (3 home runs) in those contests, as well. Devers enters this game with 52% hard hit and 33% fly ball rates to go along with a 92 MPH exit velocity over the last 15 days. Rick Porcello will be taking the mound for Boston. He has struggled with a 5.42 xFIP and a 5.09 SIERA through 26 starts. He has struggled against left-handed batters this season, allowing them to hit for a .282 average with a .491 slugging percentage and a .347 wOBA. He has also given up a .313/.572/.381 line to his opponents on the road this season. Charlie Blackmon has been elite at home, where he owns a .405 average with a .810 slugging percentage and a 1.269 OPS through 49 home games. He owns 41 extra-base hits (19 home runs) in those contests, as well. Blackmon also owns 41% hard hit and fly ball rates with a 93 MPH exit velocity over the last 15 days. He brings 0.039 wOBA and 0.028 ISO differentials against right-handed pitching into this game, as well.
