Bales’ Premium PrizePicks – MLB Player Props 4/3/19

This is strictly a matchup based play. Brian Anderson has been a slightly more consistent, but also slightly less powerful option against right-handed pitching. With that being said, he gets a matchup against Jacob deGrom, who is arguably the best pitcher in the MLB. In 2018, deGrom held right-handed batters to a .168 average with a .240 slugging percentage and a .205 wOBA. He doesn’t allow opponents to hit for power, and there’s a very slim chance Anderson will find RBI or run opportunities tonight. If that’s the case, he’ll need a triple to hit value. Without the potential for power or peripheral stats, there’s virtually no reason to believe he’ll find multiple hits to hit the over in this matchup.

Alex Bregman is a player that can always be considered against left-handed pitching. Last season, he posted a .315 average with a .567 slugging percentage and a .969 OPS against lefties. He also posted a .253 ISO, while recording a 46.4% extra-base hit rate against lefties in 2018. Bregman gets a plus matchup against Mike Minor, who has allowed right-handed batters to hit for a .243 average with a .424 slugging percentage and a .313 wOBA over his career. Furthermore, Bregman will be playing in a hitter friendly stadium. He gets a great matchup in an elite offense in a great stadium. All signs point towards the over.
