Welcome in to Spike’s Building Blocks for DraftKings & FanDuel! This is a free article written daily to identify my top-overall DFS plays for cash/gpp games and small-field contests on both DraftKings and FanDuel. I truly appreciate everyone that reads and supports the content. If you’d like to support further you can click HERE to sign-up for a MLB Premium package. This gets you access to my Core Plays daily — allowing you to tail my builds, access the premium Discord channels and view our DFS Projections Portal. We’ve been on fire already this MLB season, and there’s no better time to sign-up. With that being said, let’s dive into today’s slate…

Top Pitchers

Zach Gallen

Gallen has been enjoying a fantastic start to this season. With a strikeout rate of 34% and walk rate of 3%, you can see what I mean. Zac has a matchup against the San Fransisco Giants who lead the league in strikeouts per game this year (9.71 per game). The majority of this Giants roster struggles with one of the four pitches that Gallen throws which shouldn’t make it super difficult for him to rack up strikeouts. Gallen is a must for cahs and a very strong option for tournaments. I really love this matchup and think he is the top arm to target on tonight’s slate!

Tyler Wells

After Gallen, pitching drops a bit with a couple decent options in DeSclafani and Cease. I prefer going to a lower owned Tyler Wells. This might be a bold call but I think he does well against Pittsburgh. The Pirates have been struggling lately with only less than 3 runs in their last 7 games, they are just not connecting. Wells has had ups and downs this year while flashing upside against teams that are similar to Pittsburgh. Relatively cheap as well which helps yoou spend up more with your batters in lineup construction. Beware, monitor this game as there is a chance for rain. If you don’t feel comfortable risking it, feel free to use one of the arms I mentioned above.

Building Blocks

James Outman

I didn’t want to write up the Coors chalk so here we are with James Outman! Musgrove has been pretty lucky this year, not that he is a bad pitcher by any means but this is a tough matchup against the Dodgers and co. Outman has been enjoying a great start to his rookie campaign. Sporting 23 RBI’s with 8 homeruns along with a BA of .279. On top of that he is averaging 9 fantasy points so far this year. The majority of the pitches Musgrove throws are ones that Outman has had good success with this year. Not to mention it is great hitting weather in California with winds blowing out around 13-15 MPH and the 75 degree weather. Outman will be a priority for me today and a strong option across all contests.

My favorite GPP stack for today is going to be LA Dodgers against Musgrove. Other teams to stack that I am interested in are Phillies and Baltimore.

Spike’s Fun Fact of the Day

Zac Gallen has 64 strikeouts in less than 50 innings this year!
