MLB DFS 5/14/22 – Spike’s Building Blocks | DraftKings & FanDuel Picks

Great weather for baseball! Welcome to our MLB DFS Building Blocks, DraftKings and FanDuel picks for 5/14/22! In this article, I’ll break down by top overall plays for today’s main slate. We have already found a lot of success to start the year off and there is plenty more to come! A big KARMA takedown is imminent and only a matter of time. I will be providing Core Plays for every main slate (and day baseball) this season — you can gain access to that as well as our premium discord here. You can also try out the Core Plays package with a $5 day pass. Let’s get to the plays…

Pitcher

Zac Gallen

Surprisingly enough, Arizona pitchig has looked much stronger thn anticipated to start the year off ad a big part of it is Zac Gallen. The cubs are by no means a scary offensive team and have in fact stuggled hitting the ball the majority of this year. Gallen is sporting a strikout rate of 32% against their current roster and is ony giving up hard contact 31% of the time. That is very impressive stats and throw in that he is only walking batters 3.7% of the time and it just makes sense all around. He is my clear SP1 tonight and the only thing not in his favor is that it should be around 100 degrees which makes for better weather for batters. There is tons of strikeout upside and they are letting him pitch well into the 90-100 range.

Chris Bassitt

This young man has had a solid start to the year and gets another solid matchup tonight. Against this current Mariners offense he is sporting a strikout rate of 25% and a FIP of just 2.44. He has topped 6 strikeouts or more in all but one start this year and Seattle has been striking out a lot as a whole team so far. Furthermore, more than 75% of this team has a hard hit rate of under 35% making it look like an elite night for Chris. The one issue I have is that weather is of a concern. There is a 65% chance and higher of rain all night in Queens and is something we will keep a close eye on all the way up until lock.

BONUS: If The Mets game is postponed or you don’t feel like risking the chance, Shane Bieber is another solid option tonight. The winds are blowing out and we just watched the Twins tear this team apart last night but it wasn’t against Bieber. His start to the year hasn’t been great but positive regression is coming if you look ar statistics.

Building Blocks

Daulton Varsho

I was on them last night and they just got unlucky to be honest. He is serving as catcher right now with Kelly injured and gets a solid matchup tonight against Hendricks and the Cubs. It is going to be around 100 degrees tonight which makes for optimal hitting weather. While Hendricks hasn’t been terrible this year he certainly hasn’t been elite. We have seen Daulton take plenty of solid pitchers yard this year and tonight is no different. He is expected to be leading off which should make him chalky but this is chalk I am willing to eat and get unique in another spot in my lineup. Hendricks does throw his fastball nearly 26% of the time and that is by far Varsho’s favorite pitch to hit. He actually hasn’t been terrible against breaking pitches either as two of his six homeruns have come against them. Those are the only pitches Hendricks really throws making his success that much more promising!

Aaron Judge

It is really hard to not continue writing this guy up. He is just on fire and has the most home runs in baseball as of today (12). He turned down a big contract at the beginning of the year and it looks to be paying off. They are gong to need to pay him much more if he continues to play baseball like this. He gets another date with the White Sox and Dallas Keuchel has not looked great at all. Dallas has a strikeout rate of merely 12% and a walk rate just the same. Judge makes hard hit contact nearly 70% of the tie this year and he has homered three times in his last four games. Thus, he makes for an elite one off and a must if you’r stacking the Yankees tonight. I am actaully curious and eager to see if most go to the chalky Coors teams or decide to smarten up with these guys.

Bold Call

Judge and Varsho go for Double Dong nights!
