MLB DFS 6/04/22 – Spike’s Building Blocks | DraftKings & FanDuel Picks

Welcome to our MLB DFS Building Blocks, DraftKings and FanDuel picks for 6/04/22! In this article, I’ll break down by top overall plays for today’s main slate. We have already found a lot of success to start the year off and there is plenty more to come! A big KARMA takedown is imminent and only a matter of time. I will be providing Core Plays for every main slate (and day baseball) this season — you can gain access to that as well as our premium discord here. You can also try out the Core Plays package with a $5 day pass. Let’s get to the plays…

Pitcher

Dylan Cease

Pitching isn’t exactly great on this main slate. One of the brighter spots is Dylan Cease. He gets a decent matchup against Tampa Bay  who actually tend to strikeout a lot. On the year, he has a 33.3% strikeout rate and has an xwOBA of .272.  In both those ctaegories he is top 12 in the MLB. He has a mean slider and thats one of the pitches the Rays have trouble hitting. In fact, he hasn’t allowed a homerun off of it and has the more strikeouts using that pitch than any other. This lineup is watered down to add to it with Wander Franco and Brandon Lowe expected to miss again. He is my clear SP1 regardless of ownership and viable in all contests.

Nick Pivetta

Like I said, pitching is tough today with no second clear cut ace. Pivetta is strictly a matchup based play today as he gets a date with Oakland. Against their current roster he owns a 45% strikeout rate. No, you heard that right 45% which is double of what he has on the year. This is pretty much an AAA roster they continue to put out after their fire sale in the offseason. I will continue to attack it until proven other wise. Oakland only has three players with a hard contact rate of 40% or more. While his strikeout upside isn’t great, he can still get you 5-8 of them with a lot of outs to go with it.

BONUS: Logan Webb also gets a solid matchup based start. He has a 38.3% strikeout rate against the current Marlins roster and is a solid GPP play.

Building Blocks

Kike Hernandez

This guy has been on a tear recently! While his statistics aren’t anything to brag about, he has been solid recently is constantly leading off the order for Boston. He gets a favorable matchup against Oakland and Paul Blackburn who is not even at a 20% strikeout rate on the year. Kike is still pretty cheap for what he has been doing and his u[side that comes with him. Making him a solid value option for today’s slate.  He has at least one hit in 12 of his last 13 games and usually will get an extra at bat with being the lead off guy. Boston in general are in a good spot today but shouldn’t garner too much attention.

Yordan Alvarez

He just got a very nice payday yesterday and reminded them quickly of why they did it with a homerun. Houston gets another elite matchup against Bubic and the Royals again. They should be the go to stack today and he should be one of the higher owned plays of the day. It all comes with obvious reasoning as he comes in top 5 in most categories for hitters so far this year. He legit has 64% hard hit rate to go along with a walk rate of 13%. He gets on base a lot and usually will make you pay with runners on base. With 3 homeruns in his last 3 games he is on one and another one today is very likely to me. He mkaes for an elite option in all formats against this weak KC pitching core.

Bold Call

Pivetta strikes out 10+ batters!
