MLB DFS 6/05/22 – Spike’s Building Blocks | DraftKings & FanDuel Picks

HHAPPY SUNDAY! Welcome to our MLB DFS Building Blocks, DraftKings and FanDuel picks for 6/05/22! In this article, I’ll break down by top overall plays for today’s main slate. We have already found a lot of success to start the year off and there is plenty more to come! A big KARMA takedown is imminent and only a matter of time. I will be providing Core Plays for every main slate (and day baseball) this season — you can gain access to that as well as our premium discord here. You can also try out the Core Plays package with a $5 day pass. Let’s get to the plays…

Pitcher

Lucas Giolito

It was tough to pick who to write up between him and Gausman but Giolito made the article. I am simply less worried about Tampa Bay over the Twins. Tampa Bay hasn’t been terrible overall this year. What sticks out to me the most is how muh their roster strikes out. The starting lineup they rolled out has six out of nine batters with a stirkeouot rate over 18%. I will mention that Lucas has a 34% rate on the year in that category. In addition to that, these Rays are also watered down still without Wander Franco and Brandon Lowe.  For these reasons, I slighty prefer Giolito as my SP1.

Zac Gallen

I have gone back to this guy constantly this year and today is no different. He has the best matchup of all the top tier pitchers against the Pirates. Against their current roster he has a strikeout rate of 50%. That is more than double what his rate is on the year. It also appears that he is going to be lower owned today with Guasman and Giolito soaking up a lot of ownership. This is a great leverage play and he has flashed 10k upside this year already. The Pirates have been pretty mediocre this year minus a couple of outlier games and is a perfect spot to attack!

BONUS: Kyle Gibson is looking like a solid value play and the Angels have been playing awful lately. I have no issues using him in GPP’s but just be careful as these Angels ca heat up at anytime and when they do it’s hard to stop them.

Building Blocks

Tommy Pham

It is hard to ignore the Reds today as they go up against Patrick Corbin. Pham in general has been enjoying a solid year so far.He has a 50% hard hit contact rate to go along with walk rate of 15%. Pham hits fastballs extremely well and that happens to be Corbin’s favorite pitch.  The majority of his homeruns and hits this year have come off of them. I am hoping he goes a little overlooked with a $5400 price tag but these Reds will be popular as Corbin’s pitching is no secret.  His exit velocity on his swing is the highest it has ever been through his 8 year career and he is one of my favorite plays today.

Teoscar Hernandez

I always feel like Sunday is a great day to roster Toronto. They seem to have a lot of big days for some reason. Hernandez in particular has been very consistent over his last 5 games. With 10 hits in them to go along with a homerun he seems just a little too cheap at $4100. Smeltzer is giving up a 41% hard hit rate and doesn’t strikeout a ton of guys. The fact that he is hitting clean up makes me like him even more. He should have plnety of chances with runners on base to get the score going.

Bold Call

Pham goes for the cycle!
