MLB DFS 6/20/22 – Ben’s Building Blocks | DraftKings & FanDuel Picks

Welcome to our MLB DFS Building Blocks, DraftKings and FanDuel picks for 6/20/22! In this article, I’ll break down by top overall plays for today’s main slate. Last year was an extremely big year for the Karma team in MLB, and we are looking to continue that success in 2022. I will be providing Core Plays for every main slate (and day baseball) this season — you can gain access to that as well as our premium discord here. Let’s get to the plays…

Above is an example of the Core Plays given out to Subscribers on Friday May 13th

Pitcher

Gerrit Cole

We have some big name pitchers on tonight’s slate, but Gerrit Cole will once again be the top overall cash game option against the Tampa Bay Rays. Tampa has been ice-cold at the plate over the last month with a .283 team wOBA and a combined 24% strikeout rate. Cole had a rough outing a few starts ago, but his numbers have remained elite in 2022 with a 33% strikeout rate. We also have a big sample-size of Cole against this Rays lineup — resulting in a .278 wOBA allowed and a 33.5% strikeout rate. You can always pivot in tournaments, but he is the top-overall option on both sites tonight.

Lance Lynn

I think the double-spend with Cole + his opponent, Shane McClanahan, is more than in play — but Lynn is just too cheap for me. He logged over 80 pitches in his first start, so we only need to worry about potential rust, not his overall workload. I also like this match-up for him a lot. Toronto is a good lineup at its core, but they are extremely right-handed heavy. Over the last few seasons, Lynn is allowing just a .217 wOBA to righties with a near 30% strikeout rate. He projects to see seven right-handed batters tonight, which bodes well for him. He was pretty unlucky in his first start, and I think he is the top points per dollar play on DraftKings tonight — and viable in all formats.

Building Blocks

Mike Trout

With the savings of Lynn at SP, we will have room to spend up for whatever bats we want…and how do we fade Mike Trout right now? He has hit five homeruns in five days, and matches up with a mediocre lefty in Kris Bubic tonight. Bubic throws a ton of fastballs to both sides of the plate, so Trout should know what’s coming and he has absolute video game numbers against left-handed pitching. He is the top spend-up in all formats on both sites for Monday.

Oneil Cruz

This is a price play, Cruz is the Pirates top prospect and is in the lineup tonight at the minimum price of $2,000 on DraftKings. If using Lance Lynn, I’m not sure if you will really need the savings he provides but if going for two expensive pitchers he will be a crucial part of roster construction.

Bold Call

Gerrit Cole and Shane McClanahan both carry a no hitter into the seventh!
