MLB DFS 6/4/23 – Spike’s Building Blocks for DraftKings & FanDuel

Welcome in to Spike’s Building Blocks for DraftKings & FanDuel! This is a free article written daily to identify my top-overall DFS plays for cash/gpp games and small-field contests on both DraftKings and FanDuel. I truly appreciate everyone that reads and supports the content. If you’d like to support further you can click HERE to sign-up for a MLB Premium package. This gets you access to my Core Plays daily — allowing you to tail my builds, access the premium Discord channels and view our DFS Projections Portal. We’ve been on fire already this MLB season, and there’s no better time to sign-up. With that being said, let’s dive into today’s slate…

Top Pitchers

Sandy Alcantara

Sandy has been having a rough year but positive regression is imminent. This is more of a matchup based play as Alcantara gets a date against the Oakland A’s. The Athletics have without a doubt been the worst offensive team this year. They only have 2 batters making hard contact north of 40% along with 5 batters striking out over 26% of the time in their lieup for today. Sandy has struggled with strikeouts so this will be a great get right spot. Sandy is projecting for around 35-40% ownership but it is well warranted. The Marlins are also favored around -250 to win as well. I expect Alcantara to go for 6-7 innings and grab the win here which should put him around the 20 FP mark. The more strikeouts he gets is just gravy on top. Sandy is my top pitching option for this afternoon slate!

Kodai Senga

There are a ton of guys I wouldn conisder for our SP2 or for GPP contests. Kodai sits a top of that list. Now, this is by no means an easy matchup but we have seen Kodai shuutdown the Rays already so it doesn’t worry me too much. Senga is sporting a 30% strikeout rate along with an xBA of .218! Hard contact rate is under 40% and he has shown us he has the stuff to strike guys out. We have him projected for around 23% ownership and I would much rather play him at the % verses Kopech or Eovaldi (not bad plays but when they are projecting for the same ownership I would rather take a hotter arm).

Building Blocks

Joey Meneses

Honestly not sure if this is a hot take or not but here we go. Meneses gets a date against Ranger Suarez who has been lit up nearly everytime he has been on the mound thus far this year and he really hasn’t even gone up against good hitting teams. Washington is not a great offensive team but they do have their moments. Joey has been heating up with 1 or more hits in 11 of his last 15 games. He is not a homerun hitter but there is power in his swing. I don’t think we see a ton of homeruns here but constant hits by the Nats to score runs.  The majority of Suarez’s pitches line up with what Joey likes to hit including his Slider, sinker and changeup. Ranger also throws the fastball close to 20% of the time. In order, Meneses owns a BA of .292 against the slider, .468 against the sinker, .375 against the changeup and .284 against the 4 seamer. I just really like the spot he is in today along with most of the Nats and expect them to put up good nubers against Suarez and company!

My favorite GPP stack for today is going to be The Reds against Houser! Other teams to stack that I am interested in are The Astros and The Nationals!

Spike’s Fun Fact of the Day

Cy Young still holds the record for the longest hitless streak in baseball at 24 consecutive hitless innings!
