MLB DFS 7/15/23 – Spike’s Building Blocks for DraftKings & FanDuel

Welcome in to Spike’s Building Blocks for DraftKings & FanDuel! This is a free article written daily to identify my top-overall DFS plays for cash/gpp games and small-field contests on both DraftKings and FanDuel. I truly appreciate everyone that reads and supports the content. If you’d like to support further you can click HERE to sign-up for a MLB Premium package. This gets you access to my Core Plays daily — allowing you to tail my builds, access the premium Discord channels and view our DFS Projections Portal. This Portal also gives all of your cash and gpp plays as well as our players to fade! We’ve been on fire already this MLB season, and there’s no better time to sign-up. With that being said, let’s dive into today’s slate…

Top Pitchers

Spencer Strider

We will always roster this ace when he is pitching. Today Spencer gets a date with the White Sox’s at Truist Park. Chicago sits in the middle of the pack for strikeouts per game at 8.77 (per 9 innings) but Strider is matchup proof in that department. Sporting a 39% strikeout rate along with hard contact 37% of the time and xBA of .201 is enough for me to use him here. Strider also comes with 10+ strikeout upside and has a long leash. Don’t overthink this one and lock him in your lineups!

Alex Cobb

For our SP2 or GPP pitcher on FD, the majority of people will probably grab Pablo Lopez which I’m more than fine with. I prefer going to a lower owned option with just as much upside. Cobb has had his ups and downs but I like this matchup against Pittsburgh. The Pirates strikeout a fair amount at 8.62 times per game (16th in MLB) but on top of that, they don’t have a ton of guyus who make a ton of hard contact. Cobb has a strikeout rate of 23% with a walk ratde of 5.5% and doesn’t give up a ton of hard contact. Cobb is a great pivot off of Lopez for much cheaper and far less ownership.

Building Blocks

Kyle Farmer

Another Coors slate and the Yankees are a  very obvious choice for stacking and for one offs. Everybody knows that so I am highlighting another individual here. Farmer gets a matchup against Hogan Harris and the Oakland A’s. This is arguably the second best team to stack today. There are multiple reasons to really like Farmer. Let’s start off with his salary which is a mere 2.3K on DraftKings which is just too low regardless of situation. Farmer is projected to bat clean-up today whihc puts him in an even better position to excel. Harris loves his 4 seamer and his cutterball. Both of these pitches are one’s Kyle has been hitting well this year. This is a solid cheap one off that will allow you to spend up elsewhere and he could very easily grab us 10 FP’s as well.

My favorite stack for today is going to be The Yankee’s against Seabold! Other teams to stack that I am interested in are The Twins and The Padres!

Spike’s Fun Fact of the Day

So far this year, games are finishing up 20-30 minutes earlier than previous years due to the new pitch count rule!
