MLB DFS 8/20/22 – Spike’s Building Blocks | DraftKings & FanDuel Picks

Welcome to our MLB DFS Building Blocks, DraftKings and FanDuel picks for 8/20/22! In this article, I’ll break down by top overall plays for today’s main slate. We have already found a lot of success to start the year off and there is plenty more to come! A big KARMA takedown is imminent and only a matter of time. I will be providing Core Plays for every main slate (and day baseball) this season — you can gain access to that as well as our premium discord here.

Pitcher

Cristian Javier has been great for us so far this year. He gets a matchup against the Braves tonight and it looks fantastic! He owns a 48.4% strikeout rate against their current roster. That is a mind blowing stat. We know that Atlanta is good offensively but they also tend to strikeout a lot along the way. Javier has big upside and there is a reason why he is priced over 10k. Cristian is an easy SP1 for me tonight. For our SP2, there are multiple ways you can go. the safest play is probably Joe Musgrove. Favorable matchup against the Nationals who really don’t have any big power hitters anymore. Joe has been going through a rough patch but this is a solid spot to turn it around. Other pitchers in play are Logan Gilbert and Spencer Strider.

Batters

Paul Goldschmidt leads the way for hitters tonight. Yes, it is a coors slate and we will get to that. Goldy gets Bumgarner in Arizona which is a hitter friendly park. He is fantastic agaist lefties and a double dong night wouldn’t shock me. He has the best numbers on his team as of late and Madison gives up hard contact nearly half the time. It is a coors slate though so I think you’ll need a couple of them in most lineups. Ryan Feltner actually isn’t a terrible pitcher but I think Joc Pederson is a great play tonight. HE went yard last night and it is likely to happen again. Joc has hard contact over 50% of the time and has an xwOBA of .359! Weather is a little concerning as rain is in the forecast and we will keep our eyes on it closer to lock.
