MLB DFS 8/21/22 – Spike’s Building Blocks | DraftKings & FanDuel Picks

Welcome to our MLB DFS Building Blocks, DraftKings and FanDuel picks for 8/21/22! In this article, I’ll break down by top overall plays for today’s main slate. We have already found a lot of success to start the year off and there is plenty more to come! A big KARMA takedown is imminent and only a matter of time. I will be providing Core Plays for every main slate (and day baseball) this season — you can gain access to that as well as our premium discord here.

Pitcher

Shohei Ohtani is my clear cut number one pitcher for today. With a matchup against Detroit, he is an elite option for many reasons. Ohtani owns a near 30% strikeout rate against their current roster. On top of that, Only one person from the Tigers gets hard contact north of 40%. Shohei has video game like bumbers across the board and should take care of them with ease. For our SP2 I am once again going to be spending up. Brandon Woodruff gets a solid matchup against the Cubs. Chicago has some solid hitting but it is all in one part of the lineup. Woodruff owns a 30% strikeout rate on the yearand only giving up hard contact 39% of the time. A third option for me would be Charlie Morton against Houston. He has been pitching well but this is a GPP play for me as the Astro’s can get hot fast and ruin his day .

Batters

Kyle Schwarber is still one of the better power hitters in the MLB. He gets a matchup against Jose Butto who was recently promoted to the majors and was doing great stuff in AAA. That being said, Kyle has hard contact over half the time with a xwOBA of .377 which is a very solid projection. He walks a lot too and should be on base a lot. Rookie pitchers can get shaky early and completely fall off. Schwarber is expensive but completely worht it as a one off or in a stack. Randy Arozarena is the next guy on my list. He gets a date with Zach Greinke and KC. As you know, I have been attacking this clown alll year long and it usually pays off. Randy makes hard contact 43% of the time and has a ton of power in his swing. This is a really good spot for him as he crushes fastballs which Zach loves to throw.

Bold Calls

SHOHEI AND WOODRUFF STRIKE OUT 10 EACH!
