MLB DFS (8/23/18) – Bobby’s Batter Up

MLB BATTER UP August 23rd, 2018
  •  This PREMIUM article features top offensive batters per position
  • This includes value plays, upside plays, and contrarian plays
  • Strategic game theory on why we are selecting these batters
  • Advice on the best “Game Stacks” of the day
  • The same players in these articles are the same players you can find in the core of our lineups!

Top Stacks – One of the most important concepts to understand in DFS MLB.  Watch our daily YouTube live podcast for more information on this understanding/mindset.  Keep in mind it is ok to stack 4 guys or 3 from the same team.  This mathematically increases your chances of “cashing” in tournaments.  It isn’t as necessary to stack in cash games (double ups/heads up).  Below is our rankings starting from the best at number 1.

    1. Reds (+200) –   This is a four-game slate so as usual you really want to limit your bankroll exposure and I will be going “all-in” on one team in GPPs. For this slate that is the Reds against Cubs pitcher Cole Hamels.  With a total on the rise, now up to 3.7 implied runs, with the game O/U at 9 runs I feel pretty confident in the play and given that they only have a 3.7 implied run total we can figure that this team will be low owned.  Overall, Hamels has not been that bad.  His SIERA is a 4.00 and his xFIP is pretty well represented in his ERA.  The only thing that pops out to me is his allowed HC% which is the highest of his career at 43.4%.  This is a full 14% higher than his career average which is a substantial difference.  Hamels only walks 8.1% of batters, so don’t expect any freebies for the Reds but if he’s giving up hard contact I like the odds for the Reds to get some big hits in this game.  The lock here is Eugenio Suarez who absolutely crushes lefties (.337 ISO/208 wRC+/.485 wOBA).  These are absolute crazy numbers and makes Suarez an ELITE play on this 4 game slate.  Also consider Scooter Gennett (116 wRC+), Jose Peraza (1114 wRC+), Billy Hamilton (SB upside + leading off), and Tucker Barnhart in your stack.
          1. Favorite One-Off: Eugenio Suarez
          2. Best Bet for a home run: Eugenio Suarez + Scooter Gennett

Bobby’s (LOW-OWNED) BOMB’S
CJ Cron – 4.2k = 132 wRC+/.267 ISO/.360 wOBA
Eddie Rosario – 4.3k = .368 wOBA/.227 ISO/132 wRC+

Good luck everyone let’s hit this slate out of the park!
