With that being said, let’s dive into today’s slate…

Top Pitchers

Max Scherzer

Ironic how last Sunday I wrote him up as well but lets hope for better results today! Max gets a matchup against The Minnesota Twins who actually are dead last for strike outs per 9 innings (10.28). Scherzer has never had back to back bad games and I really think we see a great performance from him today. Sporting a 7% walk rate along with a 36% hard contact rate and an xBA of just .206, it is easy to see why he is going to be over 25% owned. Ownership doesn’t bother me here as we can get unique with out SP2 and/or batters. Scherze is a fantastic option across all leagues!

Chase Silseth

The rest of the pitching options today more or less look so-so. I think going cheaper here is a smart option tonight. Silseth has been having a decent year but they key here is he is only 6.6k on DraftKings. Sporting  26% strike out rate along with an xBA of .230, I like the value we are getting. The Mets have been hitting recently but haven’t stayed consistent all year which makes me wan to take a stab with Chase here. Silseth does give up 45% hard contact but he has a solid 6 pitch mix that should be used here tonight. Chase actually has a 28% whiff rate as well and can be used in tournaments or cash game if you wish to get different there.

Building Blocks

Cody Bellinger

Bellinger is in a really solid spot today with a matchup against Bido and Co. in Pittsburgh. A lot of things stick out to me for this to be an excellent play. First off, Bellinger has been on a tear in the last couple of weeks or so. We are also getting winds blowing out around 5-10 MPH which is a nice bonus for hitters (and for Cody). The next thing that caught my eye is how well Cody matches up with Bido’s pitch mix which is made up of 3 pitches (sinker, slider and curveball). Bellinger has found a ton of success with all of these pitches ad it just really mkaes me lkie him more today. It wouldn’t surprise me if he goes yard tonight and even at his price tag, makes for a very solid option!

My favorite stack for today is going to be The Cubs against Bido! Other teams to stack that I am interested in are The Whitesox and The Diamonbacks!

Spike’s Fun Fact of the Day

A “can of corn” is known as an easy fly ball. The term comes from when old-time grocers used their aprons to catch cans kocked from a high shelf.
